  1. Good to know. I'm doing Philip Island with NL in January and will take one out if the opportunity is there :D

You jammy... NL aren’t going back the following year, and as I have to take the tribe with me on the trip (and hence need the extra time to save up) I’m now going to have to organise my own trip in 2020 and do some public days instead, without the Daytona obviously - these are the guys who hire out the beemers and they said they’ll have “current year models” http://m.phillipislandridedays.com.au/pird_welcome - not sure if that means they’ll have 2019 bikes in January - think Oz usually get the 2019 bikes in their spring (ie October)

The “Mike spike Edwards” video is worth getting - looks like an awesome circuit.

Have a cracking time and do a write up!

  3. I'll look into it cheers. I've got spikes vid and it does look awesome.
I've been told they aren't going back, it's a 1 off. It's a lot of organising and they are doing Sepang in 2020 so will they do both, I'd say get on this one but it's too late now the bikes went last weekend.

I quite liked the asymmetric look of the previous gen but this looks even better.

Had a chat with my dealer today he is sending me the spec sheets. In summary the Sport model which most people will buy I am guessing is 16k the M Sport is 19k and has carbon wheels and is the only version you can get the M Sport colours. Typical BMW putting the best colour only 9n the most expensive bike.

The sport model will be in black or red so pretty basic uninspiring options.

Options for the Sport are forged wheels etc.

And there is a basic one for 13k which no one will buy because it has nothing on it. Well maybe superstock people will.

    Expected March at the earliest.

  7. Nice one Jimmy. Can you post or send me the specs please. I have no dealer here and won't make the show this month.
Has the M got electronic suspension do you know ?

Sure thing. When they come through I will put them up. I think the sport and the M Sport are basically the same with the M Sport getting carbon wheels, race ABS, and I think a 4th riding mode not totally sure on that one though.

All the normal stuff like cruise, heated grips etc are still there. I think the dash also has connect software so you can get basic sat nav via you phone.

One interesting this is that there are no clipons. The bars are integrated into the top yoke so crashing could get expensive. Be interesting to see what aftermarket parts become available.

It should be phenominal, and more bike than anyone will ever need.

Most likely the cat is not covered is due to the heat generated.
I run gen 2 with cat and track fairings, and it's bubbling the paint off!

I went to look at a s1000rr on Sunday, Ive only been riding just over 4 years and all of it on my 675, I feel I've cut my teeth fairly well and commuting alone has taught me a lot let alone some really good run outs and the odd track day. I really want to make the step up to a litre bike and the s1000rr is my choice I feel, i just love them.

Spoke with the dealer in Chester about a used one, up for a good price and looked the part, it was a 16 plate and it worked out at 11k, got chatting about the new one and he gave me some figures on it. It was only another 30 pound a month for it. Only issue was they had sold out of this years bikes and any deposits being taken now wouldn't be delivered till next year. To be honest this kinda suits me as I get another years experience on my current bike and it also gives me time to work on the wife allowing me a new bike thats a LOT quicker than my current one that she hates haha.

  13. It’s a funny thing though isn’t it, the dealer has got you thinking about a new one for £30 a month but he can’t sell you one... if I was him I’d be inclined to focus efforts on getting you into the used bike he had in stock, I guess he was trying to get you on the bike that will make you happiest even if that means waiting a while. Personally I think this selling all the allocation thing is bollox, he’ll be on the phone in a fortnight saying he has managed to ‘locate one’ and you’ll be biting his hand off ;-)

I am not sure which way I'd go in that situation. On one hand you could wait and get a new one but on the other you could get one now and enjoy it for the summer. The new ones are not hitting land until June apparently for the first customers. It might be worth waiting until then and that used one might be an even better deal.

Both will be storming bikes so your not your not really missing out.

To be fair it was me who asked about the new one, I sold my car last year and bought a old van cash for a business I run, its an old van so at the moment I've no luxury, the way i look at it is my bike is my luxury and Id like, if I can persuade the wife, a brand new one ideally. Ive only ever had one brand new car so this would be my first ever brand new bike. I like the idea of it to be honest as i know its whole history then and its mine to do with it what I want if you get what I mean.

I may go the Manchester bike show in a few weeks as they will have the new one there. Gives me a chance to sit on it and feel if its right or not. I love the old one as well so if i don't like the new one then its nothing bad. As for waiting potentially a Year, I don't mind, it gives me more time to ride more miles on the easier and more controllable daytona, it also gives me time to save up a lot more money and then the monthly payment won't be any where near what it currently is

Well it's all going off over on the RR forum as apparently people with June build slots are now being told December. Seems BMW have been caught out by the high demand and possibly releasing the bike to early due to the fact no other 1000cc bike being released this year. People are cancelling orders and dealers have already sold some people's trade ins.

I feel sorry for those who have booked trips on the back of a delivery date. It's going to be hard work for the dealers winning that loyalty back. Let's hope it's more hype then berries and people do get there bikes.

  17. Big difference as that’s this years riding season gone and especially if you’ve sold your own bike!
Probably worth pushing for some free carbon stuff or something but doubt they’ll get far
(Bet it’s in the terms & conditions too!)

Well shizzle has hit the fan it seems looking at the updates to the UK and German forum. Dealers are being informed of an impending recall on delivered bikes and are being told they cannot deliver more at the moment. Issues with carbon manufacture and apparently machining problem they discovered may have cut water galleries to shallow on certain numbers.

Certainly a difficult baby, just lucky that it's pretty epic by all account otherwise it would really stretch brand loyalty. Most people are waiting some have cancelled as dates get pushed further out.

That is a big step for them.
Difficult one though, very disgruntled customers what ever they elected to do.
I imagine that, when every component is engineered to be as close as possible to it's limits, these sorts of problems become increasingly likely..
