Being on this forum a long time now I thought I would get up some details of my 07 Daytona 675 and some updates from when I bought it until now after a year of ownership. I had wanted a Daytona 675 for many years after seeing them when they were first released, I had a red one as my screensaver many moons ago and said that one day I would get a hold of one. When this fine example popped up I knew I had to have it as they are a pretty rare bike in my part of the world. This will be long winded and I will try capture as many updates as I can and mods I have done. I have put many hours of time both in research and hands on to get the bike how it is at the minute and although I have done lots to it, there are still plenty of small finishing touches to be done, I will update this post over the weekend as I need to upload pics fro my phone, so here it goes......... 2007 Triumph Daytona 675 - Gen1 in the fastest color Tornado Red . The bike had almost 3000km on it when it was bought a year ago, which was extremely low for almost an 11 year old bike and the condition reflected that, almost new. It had barely any use and must have sat in a shed most of its life. The bike was pretty much standard except for a Two brothers exhaust and tail tidy and was just the way I wanted it, clean original un-abused example and a blank canvas to start modding, little did I know how addictive this would become and how much of a money pit . This forum, along with a few others, google and youtube have helped with alot of my research into parts I wanted, what would work and look good and what wouldnt. I have fabbed a few bits and experimented with parts, some worked some havent and the way the bike looks and will in the end is due to some trial and error all costing me money, you win some you loose some but all part of the game. List at the minute of parts that I can think of: - Two Brothers M2 exhaust (Will be for sale later today if anyone interested ?). - Decat/Exup deleted header. - Helibars. - Rear Triumph OEM cowl. - Arrow Triumph rearsets with optional extra arrow flip up foot pegs along with pro-bolt black bolts (not cheap). - Triumph front & rear black anodized brake reservoirs. - Motodynamic black rear LED light with integrated indicators. - Motogadget M Blaze Pin rear indicators wired upto Motodynamic tail light. - Rear passenger peg sub frame delete (Halfords black buttoms). - Watsen design Tornado red front flush indicators (His last set produced for the 675). - Zero gravity sports touring dark tint screen - currently on route from the USA. - I have new metzeller M7RR tyres to be installed, more on that later. - Triumph OEM adjustable front levers in anodized black. - Custom rear plate holder using black power coated B&Q L brackets with led plate lights. - SW Motech Micro Tank bag and quick release holder. - I have OEM Trumph panniers and Ventura rack system, both unused but will eventually for a trip. - Triumph OEM alarm and other security . Parts I am on the lookout for: - 09-13 front grill in black. - Cheap gel seat until I get funds for a saddlemen. - SP connects stem phone kit - https://sp-connect.eu/collections/bundles/products/moto-stem-bundle?variant=15327245598829 - Black rear sprocket. - Performance air filter along with new plugs. - Replace brake pads. - Fork seals as think one side maybe weeping. - Heated grips and re-grip as I find my hand cramps https://www.amazon.com/Re-Grip-PN44-7-Replacement-Handle-1-5-Inch/dp/B006LRUGDM Over the last year I have probably done about 3500km or so an loved every minute of it and my direction of upgrades has changed as I have used it more. I love using OEM upgrade parts which Triumph makes a lot and have great instructions online and are high quality. I dont just put any crap on my bike and anything that has gone on needs to be 100% as I am a bit OCD with it and no butchering allowed. Some comments on the upgraded parts in no particular order, I will get my own pics up ASAP: - Two Brothers M2 Exhaust: This exhaust was only fitted by the previous owner right before it was sold and it was one of the reasons that I wanted the bike as it saved me having to fork out for one as I knew I wouldnt keep the standard end can on long. The polished look goes great with the bike and black/gold accents blend in really well. There is a deep tone and sounds wonderful. I only realized last week that the P1 DB killer (3-4DB) has been in the exhaust since I bought it and when removed, this sounds so loud and almost deafening but soo good. There is a P1X tip that reduces sound further (7-8DB) which is very cheap so you have the option of being obnoxiously loud when removed or installed still sounds lovely but not as noticeable. I took this exhaust off a few weeks ago to polish the whole system up including fitting a decat/exup deleted header and spent a good 2 days with a machine polisher and autosol to bring this up to as new condition and looks fantastic and sound unbelievable with the cat/exup removed. Much deeper and more power although the check light is on and the bike is slightly flat at lower rpm. It is easy to install using the V.A.L.E system and is very light compared to OEM. For motorway use and daily driving the P1 DB silencer needs to be installed as it is just too loud and will hurt your ears but for weekend blasts it sounds amazing out and its like two different sounding bikes both in and out. In my madness and I have decided to buy a new exhaust as I just fancy a change and something different more blingy as they say so this will unfortunately be up for sale otherwise I would keep it. Any one who has heard it agrees with how good it sounds on the triple engine. - Arrow rearsets: Great upgrade and some small adjust-ability on them. Totally clean up the look of the bike. I wasnt a fan of the oem or ever planned to change them but a forum member was selling a mint set with the hard to find flip up footrests so I bought them. I didnt like the oem silver bolts so I took them out, sent them to pro-bolt to match up and they sent them back although it wasnt as easy as that as they forgot a few bolts and sizes were slightly off but they were great with communications etc. Will have pics of my own up ASAP: - Helibars: Even though I am in my early 30's after a short while riding my back wrists especially would suffer so I inverted the original bars to see how the would feel and if there would be a difference in comfort which there was. I then seen a oemcycle who had 10% off and additional ebay 10% off and decided to buy the helibars which turned out to be one of the best mods. Looks oem and nobody would know they were changed unless I told them. Can stay on the bike hours now and wrists dont get sore. Bars dont hit the fairing like the inverted oem ones, although my gloves can slightly hit the mirrors on full lock. Verrry slight vibration at motorway speed which isnt noticeable but I think heavier bar ends would resolve this. Only small complaint is paint can scrape off easy when putting hardware for levers etc back on. Would highly recommend oemcycle.com - Watsen Flush Indicators : Highly recommend these, for such a small mod it makes a huge difference. I was one of the last people to get a set of these as Roger Watsen has since retired and not producing these anymore, which is a pity. High quality custom made and colour coded with extremely bright LED's. Came with oem plugs and resistors so plug & play. I would recommend removing fairing as much easier to install and save time. If you can find a used set of these, grab them quick as they aint being made anymore. Installed on this bike: - Triump OEM Anodized Levers & Reservoirs: Another high quality accessory produced by triumph for the 675. Look great and function great and easy to install. Instructions online for both and videos on youtube for easy install, what more could you want . - Zero Gravity Screen & Skidmarx Custom Screen: Originally my bike came with the oem light tinted screen which was ok but not to my liking. As usual after much online digging around I decided to go for the Zero Gravity Double Bubble in dark tint. The fit and finish was perfect on this and no complaints. Ordered from sportsbikeshop.co.uk who I would also recommend, fast delivery and good price. After a while I decided that I wanted a taller screen and some more protection so I contacted Skidmarx in the UK to make a taller TT style screen. After a few back and forth's with them and telling them numerous times exactly how I wanted it and color, fit etc I paid for it. I was not told this would take about 4-5 weeks to make and ship to me and patiently waited. To say I was dissapointed is an understatement. The screen fit crap, wasnt symmetrical, was made in two different parts with both pieces being different shades of black, was waaaay to big and the holes didnt line up properly and fit was crap. I just wasnt happy after spending £110 on it and just ruined the look of the bike. They wouldnt refund or accept back unless I took a big hit on it and the shipping costs back were too much that I just decided to put it in a box and leave it in the shed. Would be ok for a long trip to hide from the wind if you dont car that the bike looks ridiculous. Soo after more thinking I decided to go for the ZG sports touring screen which is taller than the double bubble and what I should have ordered instead of the skidmarx. Lessn learnt. Everywhere was out of stock except for ZG direct in the USA when one popped up I ordered it and its currently on route. I have not seen one installed on another 675 so cant wait to fit it and hopefully thats the end of screens. 1st screen is (sports touring) - 2nd is (double bubble) - 3rd is (Standard SR) - Motodynamic Rear Tail & Motogadget M-Blaze Indicator Pins: I hated the OEM rear indicators, just ruin the clean lines and too chunky so I decided after some looking around to go for the motodynamic rear tail as it has good review and integrated sequential indicators which look great. I just wanted another indicator to make sure they were seen but wanted them to be as small but as bright as possible so I found the motogadget pins: https://motogadget.com/shop/en/m-blaze-pin.html these are extremely bright, waterproof, tiny and German made high quality. Everyone cant believe how bright that are and you would not notice them until they come on. Highly recommend to everyone and compliment the Watsens and they fit into the OEM indicator location and wire off the motodynamic indicator resistor so no issues. Video of indicators for an idea:
So whats next for the 675?? Well I have a few bits on route that I know I shouldnt have spent the money on, that the better half would kill me if she new and that I need to stop with the modifying addiction but it beats spending it down the pub or any of the other addictions most men have . Some may think I am mad but I got this crazy idea to change the wheels one day and then a set popped up that I dont think many in the world have installed on a super sports/sports bike let alone on a Daytona 675. These are currently awaiting to have new metzeller M7RR tyres installed and then be fitted to the bike. Still unsure if to install them myself or have the shop do it as I prefer doing things myself as I am OCD careful and dont want to damage or manhandle things like a lot of mechanics do (No offence mechanics). It has even been hard to find pic's of these wheels on any sports bike but I will be sure to have pics up once installed and hoping they will look amazing and make the 675 one of a kind and not back fire on me: I think the black/silver/red will compliment all the other parts and changes I have done on the bike and also go with the Tornado red. Here is a pic of a Ducati Panigale I seen with them and kind of how it will look: Next on the list is a Competition Werkes exhaust that popped up for sale and a spur of the moment decision I decided to buy it as its probably the only other exhaust I liked over the Two Brothers for both the looks and sounds great and it wouldnt be a common exhaust where I am from never mind in the UK. I suppose this is down to the sheer price at close to $800 plus shipping and customs but it looks amazing and highly reviewed from what I have read online and think it will suit the bike with the others bits and pieces on there. I will get pics up when its installed along with the wheels and my review in comparison to the Two Bro's. I have a few other bits and pieces to change but the above two parts along with the ZG sport touring screen should really change it up and I really have to cut back on the spending and draw a line at some point. So my new Zero Gravity Sports Touring screen arrived today and after a spin yesterday I treated the bike to full tcut followed by wax and fitted the screen. I also removed the techspec tank side grips as going to go with the clear type to show off some more red on the bike, too much black covering up the paint. The screen is great improvement and looks the part, hopefully will help with the wind too and as always ZG is perfect fit and high quality. First 675 I've seen with the sports touring screen:
@Hogster love what you've done. Very individual. I actually looked at those wheels for mine... only funds kept me away. It'll be a very individual bike when you're done. Hats off to you for ploughing your own furrow. Keep the pics and updates coming.
@SW73 thanks a mill for the kind words. The funds were not an easy pill to swallow but they look amazing and when I got the idea I just had to have them and not seeing another sports type bike with them will make it stand out, hopefully not in a bad way. Will get some pics and an update once I can get them installed and the the new exhaust should be here too.
I’ve done a few similar bits to mine, I even had the last ever set of graphite grey Watsens! Only thing I couldn’t find was some Arrow rearsets so had some nice Rizoma instead
Far from it, luckily I have a work car which everything is paid for including fuel so I don't have a car expense, spare funds go into the Daytona. I dont smoke or drink either so its a hobby that keeps me sane and most of the parts I find with a discount and shop around . White, yours is a beauty and very tastefully done. The rearsets I bought off the forum and was another spur of the moment decision and they were a great buy, originally I never planned to change them and one thing lead to another. The Watsens are a great buy, pity he closed up or didnt pass on the trade to someone else. Have you any other plans White ?
Very nice!! There's a lot of work gone into that. I saw the pics of the spoked wheels & my first thought was "What is he thinking...!!??" But they actually look great on the Ducati, so WTF do I know?? Looking forward to seeing those on your bike. Impressive.
Just to ride it more! I might look at decat at some point but it’s already fairly fast! BTW I might be parting with my Saddleman at some point
Thanks Red, it is a cracking exhaust and only the Werkes exhaust popped up it would be staying on. The werkes has a bit more show to it but no doubt I will need to get DB killers as I like my hearing . What did you replace you TBR with? Cheers man, more than alot of work and considering I have been many years away from bikes its the first real build I have tackled and taken my time. Youtube and the haynes manual really help, but I enjoy doing my own work and know its done properly. Yea I was and still am a bit hesitant and really hope the suit the bike as I am not going for a retro look by any means. That ducati looks great with them and stands out and some of the new MV's come from the factory with them too. Will get pics up ASAP for everyone . The decat does make it louder and I noticed the front wheel lifted for the first time ever once it went on but a remap will greatly help. How come you are selling the saddlemen, do you not like it? To be honest I’m a short arse so the extra height does sometimes make it difficult to manoeuvre! Mine is just plain black so may not suit but I will let you know if I decide to sell. Have you done the 1050 throttle mod yet? My next thing will be carbon engine covers, titanium bolts and maybe some helibars if I find some at a decent price
No problem fire me a pm if you decide and I will have a look, is that not the gel seat in your pic above? Yes I forgot to add the 1050 mod. I was a bit skeptical at first after reading about it on the forums but it does make a massive difference. I would have to double twists to get wide open throttle but with the 1050 mod can get full throttle with one turn. I got it from Fowlers I think for about £10 or so and came installed on a brand new grip. Its easy to replace and took about 5 mins, I followed a youtube video and highly recommend. If I was you, dont leave the helibars too long. They have been discontinued now so only the left over stock is now available and not being manufacture anymore. They make a huge difference as you can see from my pics above and I remember you asking about them, go for it.
Never knew they were discontinued, in face I noticed they went out of stock on eBay now you mention it. Might have to keep my eyes peeled for a used set
Yea for some strange reason helibars have no discontinued them, suppose the 675 is aging and not as many people want to fork out close to £300 for them. I think they are a massive upgrade and even should have been a factory option, they dont show up used often either. That seat is very nice, how do you find it over standard is it more comfortable?
