The thing with the 800 and 1050 is racing if they are to build a bigger cc with both does it either can't go in a class and the other cant be competitive in it class, triumph would want it to be seen and be seen winning as the 675 has done with 3 championship wins in all of it's evolutions 06 model, facelift model in 2012 and the new model this year

"If you can't beat them, don't join them".

The 675 was (is) a class leader from when it was released.
The cost/feasibility of producing a bike that can compete with, let alone beat the current European superbikes would be unachievable IMO. If even Honda can't manage it.....
That and the revenue released by the resultant machine would be limited by the current overproduction in that sector.

Fwiw I believe that it would be better to put their efforts into making the 675 better & even more desirable than the available 750/800's.

No don't think so, being fairly little, 675 suits me perfectly love the shape, back end and sound of the triple. Riding twins can be a heavy affair, they fight a bit...the only one I'd consider swapping for is this cos my hips dig into the Ducati tanks and are really uncomfortable. I love my triumph won't be changing soon. (Old style better IMHO)

That first pic looks like a Guzzi engined beast.

I have had an 11 plate, long story but ended up with then a new 13 plate, love them both, also like Ducati 848, but as the saying goes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. :)

And I will add, it's about time Triumph brought out a 1050 Daytona.

Yup fkkr1 it is guzzi v50 I think... Lush but bit underpowered. 750 is more pokey!

I still think the launch model Daytona 675 is the best looking of them all. An absolute classic imho

  15. but it was gold...... :?

  16. I personally think the grey first gen daytona 675s are the best looking of the bunch.. After some tasteful red highlights of course! ;)

I was think thinking of the shape, I had a grey one and mate has a red one, still great looking bikes now.

  18. Haha fair enough, i didn't like the first one but loved the 09, funny old world!

I always hated the swingarm on the 06-12 though, just rubbish shape. A small thing I know but compared to the CBR600RR swingarm for example or ZX6R it always looked a bit cheap

  19. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I actually think the 06-12 swing arm is quite pretty! Certainly a lot better than those box section rectangles the Japs insist on using on their budget bikes!

What have we overtaken...? [WHITE SMILING FACE]️

Think the underseat pipe should make a comeback. A TFT screen and some bar mounted controls for the trip computer would be nice over my 09'.

Must admit, if I had the cash/was taking the finance on a new bike it has to look good, feel good riding it (engine/chassis/suspension) and have a desirability factor to it. 899 or the mv might temp, but apart from that...?

Want to walk away from my bike each time with wobbly knees from the thrill of it, thinking "I ride that...". Bit like dating Megan fox (replace appropriately here), I'd imagine![SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES] the new d675 doesn't have the looks to match the ability IMO - so not upgrading in a hurry, maybe a 2012 675r, but not the current model.
