It’s significantly more comfortable than the gel seat and massively better than the standard. It’s a solid seat but does add 25mm+ to the ride height

Strange they add so much height to it, im 5ft 10 and just about flat foot so wouldnt want to be adding too much more height to the seat.

Im not in a massive rush as funds will be tighter on the spend but the standard seat looks and feels sh!t in comparison.

  3. Oh no your not fitting spoked wheels to a Daytona are you! o_O

Only joking mate, can’t wait to see them fitted.

Unfortunately soo Steve, some say it will look terrible, others say it will look epic, all I know is time will tell once they are on :D

  5. Personally mate I think they’re going to look great, doesn’t matter what other people think, if your happy with the result then that mate is all that matters!

I had mixed comments when I wrapped my STR a few years ago. Everyone is different!

Some good and bad news from the weekend.

I got the oem wheels off for the first time thanks to youtube and the haynes manual. But didnt realise I needed a 17mm hx head socket to get the front wheel bolt off. Could not find one anywhere and by chance the local motorfactors found one €14 but i will have it forever now.

Brought the wheels down to a shop on Saturday and had the tyre's fitted, he was very impressed by the wheels.

All going well, i fitted the rear wheel on, needed a hand with this to line it all up, its a bit of a pig and Kineo provide's new spacers too.

I then moved onto the front thinking I was on the home run. Stripped the brake discs off to swap over. Began to loctite the bolts on to the new wheels but was a little concerned that oem dics bolts were M8 x 30mm and the Kineo bolts are M6 x 10mm so a massive difference.
The Oem torque specs are 22NM for the bolts and i couldnt find anything to yell me any difference for the kineo wheels so started to torque and two of the B@stards hex head wore out like soft cheese and the allex head just spins and nothing else could remove them. To say i was angry was an understatement.

So I'm a bit stuck now. Doing online research pro-bolt specs for M8 bolts are 30NM max which would be right as oem is 22Nm.
Pro-bolt states that max torque for M6 bolts is 12NM so i think thats the max these should have been torqued to and the extra amount i tightened wrung the hex heads. Im now stuck with two rounded bolts and a bike i cant drive till i get in contact with kineo and i dont speak Italian and it's a bank hol in the UK to contact bikehps which I think the wheels are originally from.
The guy who fitted the wheels said to bring them down he will try extract them and il go from there and will need 2 more bolts.

Here's a sneak pic of the rear until i get more progress.......

Just received an email from a Kineo Distributor in the Netherlands stating the following:

''The factory engineers advise 15NM for the bolts that come with the wheels''

    Great :(

It was a good evening, quick update. After some youtubing I found that if i used a T27 torx bit and a hammer i would get the rounded bolts out and i did :)

Managed to test fit the wheels and bolted it all back up and looks amazing, very happy with them and the exhaust, whole bike is coming along nicely.
Had to order some Honda brake disc bolts from pro-bolt so when they arrive I can test drive.

I shall get better pics in the daylight, untill then here you go.

    Looking great hogster
I would be a little concerned about those discs however
The m8’s are also shoulder to the size of the hole in the discs. I’m assuming the m6 ones aren’t meaning that the disc can move about should they come lose.

    Cheers Bigmac,
The wheels have there own threaded shoulder that the disc sits onto, although there is a mm or so play, then the M6 bolts thread into that and clamp the disc down. I have to consider that with the expensive of these wheels that Kineo engineered them to be safe and they are TUV approved but I will run this past Bike HPS later today.

I ordered these Honda bolts instead as they have a slighty wider head, 6mm Allex Hex bolt unlike the Kineo 4mm and seem like they will be better fit than the Kineo ones.

i do like those wheels myself, very nice :)

having been bitten by those hex head brake disk bolts before, i would look for torx head bolts instead.
i think triumph have also changed to supply torx head when they were previously hex head, as last time i ordered a new set, they came as torx.

Finding the bolts I needed in the Kineo dimensions is almost impossible, eventually the bolts I went for are these:
    https://www.pro-bolt.com/stainless-steel-disc-bolt-honda-front-mlssdischonfr.html

    - Kineo is M6 x 10mm with a 13mm button head using a 4mm hex bit (too small to torque).

    - Pro-bolt (Honda ones are): M6 X 17mm with a 15mm head using a 6mm hex bit so hopefully will be stronger and a better fit. I may have to remove 7mm off the length if I am being fussy.

Torx bolts are much better just very hard to find in the sizing I needed

  13. I think the wheels look great and it's nice that you're not afraid to try something different.
Glad you explained about the disk mounting method with these wheels or I'd have been really concerned about the size of the bolts.
£4.27 each for the new ones though:eek:

Thanks Wobbly, when i seen them on the ducati I knew they should look great and i love them.
Yea I spoke with bikehps.com and asked them why the Oem bolts are much bigger and M8 size, he said that the triumph wheels are a softer metal and need larger bolts to be safe. Tht suzuki, honda and BMW all use 6mm bolts as standard so that was good enough for me.
Yea £40 for a set is not cheap but its safety and they had 20% off so had to be done :)

That’s makes sense this there is a shoulder for the disc to locate onto.
You would still think they would of made those bolts a little longer to make you feel a little more comfortable.
Unfortunately the dome head hex bolts are always pretty pants as they just don’t have much meat on the head, cap heads with a washer would be a lot tougher to round off but they won’t look as nice.
Also if you have it try to use an Allen socket and with a tee bar or similar so you can get a a central spin, when you use Allen keys and ratchets you load the Allen key up one sided and it slipping out and twisting is bound to happen.

Pro-bolt sent me an email saying they were out of stock and back order till the 30th of September so I was not pleased at all as a few times I have ordered from them and this happens. They have titanium in stock so going to send them instead, hopefully will be here by Friday.

@Bigmac, they need to be torqued so have no choice rally than allen socket ??

I need a new chain wondering what you guys think. I was offered a discounted chain from bikehps which is a DID VX gold one but I was really thinking of black as gold may clash, not sure?

An opinions what will look best?

    Gold Chain (matches wheels):
