Perhaps put Jen in that slot. As she's broken her leg there's crazy talk of coming in a Toyota Aygo! She claims with all the Italian exotica coming a four seat backmarker will pay dividends.

Superstition isn't linked to religion in all cases.

Many believe 13 to be unlucky, so much so that many businesses take this in to account to cover all bases. No floor or room 13 in offices/hotels etc.

There are no doubt a number of people out there that wouldn't go to a place because it had say a room 13.

Crossing a black cat could possibly be linked to religion, due to their link with witches as familiars way back when, but can't say for sure if the whole witch hate thing was religion or just stupidity. Though that's not to say the 2 are mutually exclusive.

    I thought it was this:

Some believe this is unlucky because one of those thirteen, Judas Iscariot, was the betrayer of Jesus Christ. From the 1890s, a number of English language sources relate the "unlucky" thirteen to an idea that at the Last Supper, Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.

Quite possibly, I will admit I've never even thought about it. I guess that makes sense and could well be the origin.

I also know some people that are completely unreligious that think it's unlucky so I guess the origin may have gotten lost but the superstition stuck?

Is the good lady's leg fixed up or will we have our own AA escort for the day?

We're currently in Wroclaw and she's doing her best to gimp around on crutches. Adamant she'll be there. It'll be in the car though as no chance she'll be fit enough to ride a bike. Wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm getting my bike serviced by Clive Wood on the way down so we'll not even be in convoy! We're both looking forward to seeing you all.
