Hi, not been on here for a while but have still been ridng my 675.

The other day, all of a sudden the bike wouldnt start. I'd been riding all that day but then it just wouldnt start when I came to go again. Luckily I was at my parents, so after an overnight in their garage on charge, it started again.

Can anyone tell me where all the electricity is going?

    Thanks.

ay up, one way , not seen you on here for a bit , how you keeping ? & are you going to the fest ?

About you problem , I think its the battery problem again , if the thing is slightly duff it will fail to start the bike, I had the same problem last year and thought it must be the reg as battery was only 12m old ? , but decided to change battery first as it is an easy place to start, but hey presto problem solved

Got to say it’s a bitch when you don’t know if your bike will start again ,once you stop ..... park on a hill to try it, if you aren’t sure .

You might have a charging system fault if the battery is fine. Here is a thread that will help you diagnose exactly which component is faulty without wasting money on one part (R/R) only to find out it was the stator.

It sounds like you have exactly what I have had. Mine is at the dealers at the moment for a volt regulator

Just had to have my VR replaced after it failed and left me stranded - 09 model with 1600miles on it

Don't just go replacing R/R's without diagnosing the problem properly. You could just have a bad battery, or a bad stator burning the R/R out.

  7. Well worth following something like this and testing, also are you getting no power at all? when you turn the key do the clocks come on? Do the headlights & tail light come on? Does it have an alarm?

Triumphs seem to suffer with this problem a lot and we used to slate Dukes for having crap electrics!
Sounds to me like it's the charging circuit, either the alternator or the VR both common faults.

Thanks for the advice. It's in Philip Youles today for its service and a new tyre so they are going to look into it.
