As I've been on here a couple of years now I though it would be a great place to start spreading the word amongst a caring and helpful groups of people. I would be so so grateful if you would be kind enough to spread this link as far an wide as possible among friends family and social media.

    Hello,

I've just launched my project: Spinal disease condition on Crowdfunder, and I wanted you to be the first to know.

Please support my project by pledging, sharing and leaving a nice comment.

    Thanks!

Really appreciate any efforts in advance and will be back with a update over the coming days

    Ray

Thanks for the support and kind words guys it really is very much appreciated.
I'm not sure how to word what I want to say but what I'm trying to achieve isn't a sympathy vote, people across the world suffer much worse. My main aim to is spread the word and raise awareness of a disease that is mostly common amongst young males. The gene HLA-B27 can also be carried through life without finding a trigger, a trigger can be as simple as food poisoning a cold etc its doesn't have to be a trauma or injury. The disease which a lot of people don't realise can also be linked to other strains of arthritis, diabetes and psoriasis.
What I would like to achieve is a university degree so when I'm not so physically able I can still contribute to society as I'm not a believer of giving in and living from the state... As they say the show must go on!!
    Thanks again to you all

    Hey Ray!!

I do a lot of charity work. Have a punt at getting some local businesses interested in helping if you can....worst they can say is no. First stop would be the field you're in....see if you can drum up a bit of sponsorship from there.

Also....see if you can get something going whereby you're contributing to public awareness regarding your condition....I forget the percentage you'll have to set aside to whatever charity you pick...but it's not much...10-15% or sommit.....but you'll get a lot more support than just doing it for yourself, so a win/win for everyone as more funds will come your way via increased exposure (and tax write-offs, etc.).

Myself.....I can't offer anything more than advice...."conflict-of-interest" or some other nonsense...but that's just the way charity work goes...I wish it were different, but anything I do is automatically going to aimed towards my own interests.

Any questions, feel free to ask away, either here or via PM.

I wish you the very best of luck. Darren.

This is distressing news for you Ray, no diagnosis of chronic illness is ever good news. The prognosis always paints the worst picture and no young person needs to picture themselves with reduced capacity of any sort for their future. But like you acknowledge, there are indeed lots of directions to chose, as you age, and you appear to be approaching this with positivity. I am currently on holiday, but when I get back I'll speak to some of my work colleagues to get some further info for you. I'll link it on my fb feed too. Wishing you well and keep yourself fit + safe on that bike for the immediate future, you speed-freak you!! EL ;)

    Hey Ray,

well done for being so proactive and forward thinking. I really hope you get to your goal.. just to be clear.. if you dont have £6000 worth of pledges by 23rd august, you wont get any of the money? Is that right?

Thank you very much for you kind pledge. It's very generous and from the bottom of my heart very much appreciated.
My particular crowd fund is set up to receive anything pledged by the close date, this is the case so that any money goes towards my cause rather than it being a project that won't go ahead if funding isn't received.
Again thank you both very much and updates will be sent along the way

    Hi Ray
What's been happening with this for the past year? Have you started your university degree?
    Hope you're keeping well.
