Just picked up a new jacket and it arrived today but I I'm have no idea what these zip type tab things are for. There is one on each side of the chest.
What brand? Are they on both sides? Anything like a loop or Velcro in the sleeves? First guess is liner
Liner. The "redundant" half of the zipper is just to stop you shredding your shirt, sweater, skin, etc. should you choose not to use a liner.
Looks like the liner is already fitted to the jacket though, and they are normally zipped all the way around.
There are two. One on each side. The jacket is a triumph raven gtx. The jacket has a gortex liner which isn't removable.
maybe attach to a chest plate? if there is one on each side, and tey are close to the zip, they will be fairly close together. what manufacturer is the jacket, maybe there is an accessory they have listed that would identify them. the redundant parts are also supplied so that they can be attached to whatever you want to zip in, like you get for the bottom of a jacket that you can attach to other trousers, etc.
The jacket is a triumph raven gtx. I did think of chest plate but they are quite close together when the jacket is closed, and I couldn't see any armour options other than a complete top on triumphs website.
Probably meant to be a two piece jacket. Like Alpine to where you have your protective layer then your waterproof layer which you can wear out and then like a hoody/jumper garment adding thermal layering.
You can probably buy a matching neck warmer that comes down the front and zips onto those 2 tails. The other zip halves are there so they can be sewn onto a non Triumph neck warmer.
