Was out on the bike yesterday and noticed a strange sound I hadnt heard before. The best way I can describe it is that it sounded like a chick 'cheeping' lol. Perhaps a little like something needed oiling, and IIRC happend under acceleration.

    Any ideas?

Bike is 5 months old and covered about 3.5k miles

    Thanks for any suggestions

I get a squeak when i turn the key and it does the start up jiggly things. Thinking i may have been over enthusiastic with the pressure washer :? Time to get busy with WD40 meby?

  3. mine does it too mate, been doing it since i got it new....dealer said it was the exhaust valve doofer, and said i should try wd40 on it...if it carries on theyre going to replace it so im not going to lube it...i figure that if it squeaks from new then its broke and i want it changed as soon as

  4. p.s...wtf does iirc mean :D

I don't like the idea of a pressure washer on a bike. Too many exposed mechanical bits and electrics to be firing water into and causing problems for my liking. I don't think the paint is as thick as it is on a car either. I'm a bucket and sponge man :)

I'm guessing but: roflmao = roll on floor laughing my ass off ??

For me too a pressure washer is a big no no, the pressure the water comes pout at can force its way through for example the fork seals and too many other places to mention.

and got it in one :) markirel

Thanks for the replies, but ive no idea about a flapper thingy in the nosecone and i dont feel like spraying wd40 at random and besides if there is a fault on the bike sonew the stealers can fix it

  12. It is the flapper thing in the nose cone. Mine started doing the exact same thing in France. If it's wet, I dont hear it but when its dry, I can permanatly hear the flippin thing and it is doing my head in!!

  13. what the hell is a flapper thing in the nose cone ???
    do we all have one???

  14. its the air intake, the triangle shaped hole between the headlights..there is a flap valve behind it which opens and closes depending on throttle..probably something to do with european bullshit emission limits or summat...if that answer was way too obvious and patronising then its your fault for asking

Well if this is the common thing that Ive read about Triumph should get a fix and do a recall, can we not get together and put pressure on as a group?
If it is and it keeps recurring I can feel a Duc 848 being test ridden soon.

    Hi guys,

This noise is like a chirp or high pitched squeak. Apparently its one of the two valves on the bike. Its either the airbox flap as previously suggested, or its the exup valve in the lower part of the exhaust system.

Both valves are driven by a servo which does a cycle on start up. This is why the squeak can be heard on start up. I've heard the exup valve in particular causes a lot of trouble on the 675. It basically needs to be taken apart by a dealer and re=greased. It won't cause a problem if its kept lubricated but if its left to sieze it can mean a new exhaust system.

Only had mine a month and its making the exact same noise. Luckily I got mine from Jack Lilley so will bring it back and ask them to grease it for me.

    Hope this helps,

    JT

Mine started chirping on the way back from Wales, fairly certain it was up front in the noise cone. I'll wait for the weather to turn and then I'll be taking it apart to fix.

  19. Exup valve have been prone to siezing since they were invented - by Yamaha
