I have noticed that there is a little compartment under the riders seat that looks as if it has cutouts for a bungee. Am I missing the toolkit or something? I have an allan key for removing the seat cowl and a couple of tools underneath but nothing else.

Oh that was a damn nuisance on my D650. A right PIA. The tabs started tearing.

Can't say I've noticed anything for a bungee, and I have the seat off all the time as the battery is always on the optimate. As for tool kit, the allen key has gone rusty and I lost the screwdriver many moons ago.
