Hi, wondered if anyone had used this by way of cheap tracker?
I have trackers on two of my bikes. I have always been meaning to put one on the Daytona but never had the money and at £99 per yr subs it’s getting expensive.
So thought I’d give one of these a go by way of at least trying to catch the little f**kers who think they can just take things which we work hard for.
So I ordered one, due in a few days and just wondered if anyone had already tried one and if they had any success in where to hide it on the bike?
    At £25 I figured worth a try.

Was wondering how effective this would be for bikes when I got the apple email about it… we’ll done for trying it out!

Once I get it I shall post up my findings. I’m sure it won’t be as good as a tracker as they have someone watching all the time and I get phone calls and messages the minute it moves with no key. Where as these I assume it’s only effective once you know the bikes has gone unless your watching your phone all the time.
But hoping it’ll be a little bit more security and piece of mind.

I’ve seen brackets on eBay for similar idea on MTBs. The problem with air tags is that they use other Apple devices in the area to determine the location. So if there are few to none then it won’t work so well unless the thieving [email protected] has an iPhone too. With that in mind I’m curious to see how you get on.

Yea I’ve seen that, this is the reason I wouldn’t say it’ll replace proper purpose built trackers. I’m thinking though that I’ll be able to keep an eye on it when I park it whilst out on a local ride and where I live you would have to get to the deepest darkest depths of Scotland to get far enough away from an Apple device. And that’ll take a while. I have seen some ppl have varied success depending where it is place that they get around 30metre coverage and I don’t think your ever more than 30m away from an apple device for long.
I shall keep you post though.

Well hopefully give you some info sooner rather than later. Only ordered it yesterday afternoon and came home to it just now.
Super quick considering it’s engraved. IMG_2858.JPG

Yes I did get a blue mounting attachment to match the frame.

Well a degree of success but annoyingly I got it wrong on the precision find.
I thought my phone was capable but it isn’t, it’s only 11’s and up. Hopefully it’ll be a feature available soon. If not, in future no doubt I will upgrade.

However still happy with the idea. It will still get me in the vicinity of my bike and then I can omit a sound which is pretty loud to get my bike back.
So happy considering it was just £25 but wished I had the precision find. I suppose I could always employ the use of a friend with an iPhone 11 for the day if I loose the bike. For those of you who don’t have the £250 for a fitted tracker and the £99 a yr subscription it seem like a good cheap alternative to keep and eye on your bike.

Remains to see what it’s like out on a ride. I shall let you know as currently just tested it in the garage.

I've wondered about doing this myself - keen to hear how it works for you. Also thought of attaching one to my dog :))

Yes it’s great. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t replace trackers in the sense if it goes then they ring you immediately where as this you have to know it’s gone but it’s great for keeping an eye on your bike and you know you have a chance of getting it back. Just wish I had the iPhone 11or12 for precision find but you can get close and then ping a noise which is pretty loud.
