Boots

  1. An extra minute well worth it by the sound of it. :)

  2. Thanks for posting your advice Panteleimon, makes interesting reading.

I've got tcx competizone gortex boots for all year round but after some summer boots. Been looking at a'star smx+ boots, anyone got any experience of them?

  3. hmm, guess i didn't explain well.

i personally think that the TCX are safer, "despite" the ease of putting on. (or bonus, however you like.)
hence, i trust the wife's legs in them!

the TCX, like the Puma, actually physically block the boot from deforming past what is humanly "normal".

whereas the A*, Dainese, Daytona, etc just have plan hinges that could, in theory, double over and fold in half.
the only thing stopping that is your body's ligaments, etc.

Personally, I'd ideally prefer the boot to have this "ghost doctor system" that the Puma has.

But its a balance & trade off. Safe, ease of use, waterproof, comfortable, etc.

So your saying that the safest boots are the TCX Competzione?

I have seen the Goretex ones for £159, are they the right ones, and is that a good price?

Great, think I'll try these on, Gore Tex seems a good price, over £100 less than the A* too.

  12. I had a crash wearing Vertigo's.

They did the did job perfectly...No problems with legs/ankles/feet at all. And one of he boots dug into some grass as it looked like it had a tree in it :p (So im guessing the boots stopped my ankle twisting around).

I would buy them again if they were still made :( been replaced by new Sidi's.

  13. Oooooh, very nice!...........do they come in adult sizes? ;)

Don't sweat it Steffy, I take a 7-8 depending on the fit of the boots I'm wearing, I think the 10yr old Sidi's that need replacing are a 42.
So I'll be another haggler out there looking for a decent price and a good fitting set of boots, the only difference is that there's less people looking for 7's and 8's :D !

Liking the A*'s though - good choice!

    Cheers Mr G.

Both of my Sidi's are 42/8's I guess really I'm 7, 7.5 or 8. The A* boots size 8 felt generous with winter socks, the 7 felt snug, but not tight. So I went snug as I thought my summer socks are thinner, and the boot will give, I don't want a sloppy boot.
PM me if you want the deal I got, they had Black, Black/White and the Black/White/Red a la Stoner.
