Same for me Ozzer - simple, 10mm spanner, loosen the locknuts either end of the rod between the footlever and the gearbox lever (one of them's a lefthand thread btw) use a ruler so you have some kind of reference off the ground and turn the rod a couple of turns, you can see the gear lever moving whilst turning the rod, 5-6mm was ok for me, then lock up the 2 locknuts again. Ride bike and enjoy. Cheers Dave G.

  3. I use the Sidi waterproof boots. Think they are called Black rain evo or something, very waterproof, not sweaty and most important they work well in a crash. I had a crash at about 90mph and had no injury.

I've got Sidi Vertigo mega goretex. Kinda regret not getting b2s instead.

The calf adjustment is useless unless you have the Hulks calfs or wear your pants inside your boots.

    Brilliant otherwise.

  6. Chiming in on the boots front. I used to wear oxtars flagship boot but when they finally wore out (eventually fell to bits) after years of fantastic service I fancied something a bit different had a look at the astars supers bit the fit was a bit iffy on one foot. Tried sidi and they do different fits in different boots. Vertigo to narrow for my feet vortices, perfect.
They are as soft as a soft thing but the are sturdy as. No lateral flex as they have a full hard hinge on the outside and inside of the ankle and the arch support is great for my flipper shaped feet. Not quite as quick to put on as oxtar but once you get the nack they are quick enough.
On a slight practical tangent; the hard outer shell folding down is a godsend if you need to drop your suit a little if you get caught needing......

  11. Really glad I found this thread as I am looking at getting some decent boots!! The ones I have at the minute are useless!! I noticed that no one has commented on RST tractech's?! Is this because they are crap?? I just been looking on the internet and they keep cropping up, should I be avoiding them? Also, when buying boots do you generally buy your standard shoe size or do they fit slightly differently?

    Cheers, Ste.

Best to try them obviously, but my A*s probably saved my foot last week when the CBR600RR fell on my leg, I've scraped the toe sliders but walked away, I'm very very grateful that I had them on.

Not cheap, but I only have 2 ankles and feet, and I like them working and attached.

As for size, I'm a 41, shoe and boot.

  13. I just checked out my Sidi STs and they bend over sideways to the inside. I didn't think that they would because of the hinged bit, but the inside one doesn't go down as far.

I'll echo Steffy's thoughts there, what I would say is that some boots are a different fit to shoes, for example my Astars are a bigger fit across my toes than my Sidi's were, and are more comfortable, especially if my feet are a bit hot and swollen after a day in boots and my Daytona winter boots are a lot roomier all over and they're the same size again.

The rule for me is "Try before you buy".

  15. +1 i found a stars to be a lot comfier than sidis but both good boots

  16. Thanks!! I think im gonna splash out a bit more and get some A'stars, like you say steffy you only have two feet!! Would be stupid skimping on safety. Might have to order some off internet and return them if they dont fit, theres nowhere near me that sells decent boots!!!!

  17. Bike mag has a dainese supplement where their boot designer talks about their technology and design. They have just released some new ones that might be worth a look. I've got the astars supertech r and they are by far the comfiest boot I've tried.

    Hein Gericke do them!

    Or call Carol, she's lovely 01724 280888
    She's at http://www.bikersbargains.co.uk/

That's where I got mine £246 I think delivered. Check above. They had all the colours too. I'd go for your regular size.

  19. Also worth checking out TCX - a quick search will find quite a few places selling them for half price, so they wouldn't be much more than the RSTs. Get the ones with torsion control.

  20. That's great! I think whilst I'm at it I may aswell get some gloves and trousers too! Do you think she would give me a deal or do u think that might be a bit cheeky?
