    Hi all,

Does anyone know how to remove this part? I bent mine in a bit of an off!

This is the bit that holds the dash and the headlights.

I can see there are four external bolts but I can't see how to get to the nuts inside of the unit!

    Thx.

never removed it but if you cant get to the other side the nuts may be welded on or the item is threaded

The bolts loosen but then they just spin round and won't come out.
I'm going to remove the tank and the airbox and try to get access to the nuts from inside the headstock.
Failing that it may be a case of cutting off the bolts and fitting the new part with self tappers?
    Thx.

  4. Could be they are Rivnuts on the inside? Notorious for spinning.

You'll probably have to cut the bolts if so.

i have both types first type is good enough but 2nd better and easier to get good tighter fit of the threaded rivet

you can also re tighten some allready fitted by using a longer bolt and 2 nuts if you manage to get the original bolt out
sure theres a few vids on you tube

Here's the exploded view from the Fowlers website. Looks like standard nut/bolt?

I finally figured out how to do this. It's quite simple.

Just remove the air intake (part 22) and this gives access to the inside bolts of the front sub-frame!

However, I managed to drop a nut which went behind the headstock and probably dropped into the air box.

I know there's an air filter which will prevent the nut from entering the engine but I feel I should make the effort and try to fish it out?

It will mean removing the tank and airbox tho.

And you just know that you will do all that work, and then find the nut on the floor behind something...:pp
But if you don't, it's just going to play on your mind..8-))

  10. Get an extending magnet to fish the nut out.
