Happy Mid Winter and / or Christmas, depending on your preference (I've gone a bit Pagan this year and I'm all about the Solstice). Whatcha all up to? I'm currently pretending to be at work but it's soooo dead. Then it's a quiet one tomorrow as Mister Janey and Sister Janey are both working, so I'll be hanging out at my dad's like the boomerang child you hear about. If the bikes have been good, I'll give them both a little pat, tell them that mummy loves them still despite the neglect, and promise both of them some carbon fibre in the New Year if they behave. So it'll probably only be the BM that gets the bling!
Thanks for the pagan festive greetings Janey. Hope you have Lots of fun dancing around the fire in the woods with your pagan friends, which actually sounds like quite good fun compared xmas dinner with the inlaws (the unescapable fate that awaits me and many other non pagan types tomorrow).Try not to be greedy with the mushrooms is my advice. Hope the BM appreciaties your love. Happy xmas all you faithful Triumph lovers and happy Solstice Janey.
Happy whatever it is you prefer, too. Off out in a bit with the wife and kids (well both kids are nearly 30...) for a drink then back home to watch whatever takes our fancy on the box. Tomorrow is just more eating and drinking..........
Gearing up for dinner at our local Indian restaurant tomorrow, so happy winterval solstice festival celebration of choice greetings to you all
An (all encompassing) "Season's Greetings" to all. For me it will be a bit of a family get together, as my little brother is across from Barcelona with his wife & kids. Even my "usually dominant inner Grinch" doesn't have the sway to duck joining the rest of the clan, when they have flown over specially. Fwiw I'm more with Janey's viewpoint, although I respect everyone has a perfect right to subscribe to whatever Archaic fairy story they choose. As for Christianity,,,, if you believe it happened at all, it was more likely July as that is when census were done in that part of the world.... The Christians stole the December celebration from Jane's fellow Pagans, who I believe celebrate the days starting to get longer (the light defeating the dark) along with many of the other things we associate with Xmas even today... like Holly and Ivy etc,,,. So Christmas may be "loosing it's meaning", but it only lost the meaning it stole in the first place. I do like the concept of a season of goodwill though, even if just keeping it seasonal seems somewhat perverse
not been on here for a while cant believe how quiet the forum is well merry Christmas to all looking in hopefully next year the weather will be better my family will be in better health and my new boss(when we get 1) will be less demanding and i get to use my bikes more
