HI, New to the forum, i live in Essex and currently own a Repsol Fire-blade RR4. I have put my bike up for sale as i was thinking of buying a 675. I love the SE edition that i believe was discontinued in 2009 - however some dealers still have this for sale. I am keen on the 675, though little worried it will be slow compared to the RR4...Anyone got any thoughts on this? Does a power commander make a huge difference to the bike if fitted with one? Any doo's? and donts before i buy...? Sam
Hello welcome to the site, if you're riding on the road you won't find it slow, the agility and torque will probably mean you're faster in the corners and as fast in most situations, if you're using it on tracks with long straights you will find top speed slow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How do mate and welcome! You can get either the 2009 SE or 2010 SE entirely up to you I have a 2009 SE myself. Do's would be to go ride one because you'll be an even bigger fan than you are now. As for the donts other than the usual stuff they are pretty bulletproof although from 2009 onwards they upgraded the internals a bit so the 2009 models and upwards have the race gearboxes on them and they did lots of other goodies to them as well. There are loads of people on here who can give you some top advice on what to avoid and what to look for dude.
Welcome buddy...................... If u want a better look at one, pop over the bridge tomo evening and meet us at the Oakdene Cafe, certainly me and Flex will be there, as he has said, he has the white & blue and i have a 2011 Red one. Definitely ride one and you'll be hooked
Thanks guys for all the offers and advise! Ace cafe tommrow will be difficult for me, perhaps another time. Never been to the ace cafe before, but it would be nice to go.. I found out they have stopped making the se, so it will have to be a 2009 I think..they seem to be advertised for £6k! I have a 2004 blade, advertised but not a single call yet. I have emailed afew dealers to see if they will px, but not sure what they would offer if much at all. I usually use my bike to get to work and back, 20mile round trip down the m11 through traffic..and occasional ride outs. No track days..well none to date!
Welcome to the site! I don't think Triumph have ditched making the SE models just yet. This year they didn't do a SE this year due to the release of the 675R. So far they done three SE's: 2008 Phantom Black (gold wheels / decals), 2009 Pearl White / Blue and 2010 Pearl White and Blue with different decals. The question is when will they do another SE. Seeing that the new redesigned 675 is out end of next year or 2013 the chances are that they could release another one still to push the older model. But again it's only speculation and the chances are reduced seeing that they have the R to play with in the range now. Speed wise, on the road is more than enough. If anything downgrading in engine size from a 1000cc to a 675cc you'll find it more comfortable to ride, many members add the 1050 throttle mod to give less twist to get from min / max throttle. I can't say I've ever fancied a 1000cc bike on the road, the last one I sat on was a missile GSX-R 1000 from the dealer on a test ride. I think I keep my underwear clean. Pehaps I would of adapted, but I'd rather a bike that suited my riding style more. That being said the RC8R is tickling my fancy. I guess it all mounts down to your budget; but this time of year you should be able to get a bargain as it's a bad time to sell with winter creeping in. Best of luck!
A power comander isn't really needed either. The ECU can be mapped by your dealer or get yourself a OBD11 cable and do it yourself on your laptop using free downloadable TuneECU software.
How much is it to fill up after the reserve comes on? what kind of mileage do you all get around town? or on the motorway near 90? that is till the reserve light comes back
I run mine on V-pOwer have a TB exhaust with a custom Triumph map on there and yesterday I got 164.9 miles before the reserve light came on and that is a mix of motorway and town riding. Hope that helps dude. I also got 26.6 miles on the reserve light and was still running when I pulled up to the petrol station.
How much to fill up? My RR4 does 190 miles before the light comes on, and that's £20 to fill up..Super*
Really? Was your gran riding? I rode through so really heavy rain a few weeks back along a motorway in Belgium, so I was cruzing at about 60/70mph and only managed 140miles before the light came on. Generally I get 110/120 on a Sunday blast.
lol...i was annoyed at the 190miles and not more. Other people are known to get more! I wouldn't say slow riding, i use mainly 1st,2nd, maybe 3rd when getting through the traffic..fast ride back home up the motorway. however i ride i have never go let then 190 to a tank...!
the triple engine is not known for being good on juice, but thats not why I have one. I drive a TDI for economy. The new BMW 650 does 85mpg.....
