As well as keeping our bikes scrupulously clean I sometimes think that the very
thing that tends to get neglected and the most valuable item next to your bike
is your leathers, you put them on go for your ride come back take them off and
forget about them until the next time, some of you may have come across a
product called Neatsfoot oil or gel,its widely used in the Livery business for
keeping leather saddles and tack supple but can be used on many other
products including bike leathers, its a natural product and contains no harmful
chemicals or abrasives and will protect your leathers from the rain and
moisture and stop the leather from going hard and cracking,it will keep
your leathers looking good for years, price for a 400g tub is around £4
they are several makers of this so price varies but make sure its genuine
pure Neatsfoot oil, give it a try I have. ;) :)

My 'leathers' are made from Skippy and his mates. Will neatsfoot work for me :?:

A good point though Rowly. I'm crap at looking after my leathers but always wash my bike. I do sometimes clean them with saddle soap which I hope feeds the leather a bit.

I'm not 100% on that one Stu but saddle soap contains Neetsfoot oil anyway
so if you have already been using it on your skippy skin with no problems
then I cant see why not ;)

Meh i'm not really bothered about leather care, I wash off any muck I get on them with a damp cloth otherwise I don't bother oiling or applicating wonder potions, and they seem to last quite happily without

I'm scared to put my leathers on as I fear they have shrunk over the winter. I've been stopped smoking for nearly 4 months now which will have made them shrink more :D

Well done Stu :D , keep it up !

  9. After not riding for 4 years, I went to put my leathers on and found that my jacket also acted as a corset and made me look quite trim!

That said, my leathers are blue and white to match my old Gixxer, I now have a red 675. I was warned at the time to buy neutral colours.
