Hello Everyone Well first of all we have changed the teams name.We are now starting our second season in 2018 and will be racing in the Thunder sports series again In the Pre-National / Freshman's championship on our 675R . After leading the Freshman`s championship for most of the 2017 season on a Suzuki 600k1 and then on a Honda 600RR but two bone breaking crashes put Mike out of contention of either winning or finishing in the top 3 but he did finish 5th after missing 2 rounds due injury . We have upgraded the suspension fitting KTec both front and rear the engine has been worked on be JT Racing and we are more than pleased with the BHP and torque numbers and its going to have some more work done early this year . We are hoping to go to Croft for the April 7/8 meeting if things go to plan .
yes just this from late this year with out the screen .We will only be using this body work for the Inter forces racing I will post a picture when the bike is built back up in a mth
Yes some of the later bike are well turned out bikes .But I do like the look of the can coming out under the engine.
These are our 2 race bikes a 2012 and a 2013 . The 12 bike is fully tuned when we bought it and will be going on the Dyno it has K-Tech back and front and a HM dash . The 13 bike has been tuned by JT (John Trigger) and is producing very good BHP it had the STD clocks and a Star lane lap timer .It also has a race generator and a Suter slipper clutch K-Tech front and rear as well as a thumb rear brake (no foot brake ) . Both bike have Bazzaz Z-Fi Fuel Controller fitted .We will be racing in the Thunder Sports 600 Pre-National Championship in 2019.
2018 a season to forget (who ever said racing was fun) Well as everyone knows its been one hell of a bad season just to recap this is how it went. Round 1 We went to donington with no track time and spent the weekend sorting out the set up and gearing out . We come way with two 4th a 7th and a 9th place not the start we needed. Round 2 So the nightmare started we had only gone 2 miles and the clutch went on the van. Thanks to Jonny he found us a van small but it got the bike to Oulton at midnight . We had booked a garage so with the help of some lads the van was off loaded . At Oulton With only 2 races here we needed 2 strong finishes . Mike finished in 2nd place but the other race was red flagged one of the lads Dwight had crashed and later that day passed away. Round 2 Cadwell Well we got a new clutch fitted to the van (£822) so the van was good to go WRONG we had just got on to the A1 and the van broke down again. After waiting 5.5hrs to get recovered we were back at home but I had booked a hire van for the following day. We finally got to Cadwell . We had a few set up issues but sorted them out Mike qualified 2nd out of 56 riders and then won the first race setting the fastest lap .Race 2 mike finished 5th but the cam chain tensioner failed . After chatting to John Trigger who had built the engine he said to take it to his workshop both mike and leah loaded the bike in the van and off there went both got back at midnight . So the next day mike was fastest in warm up by 0.5 sec. Mike was on pole but at the end of the first lap he had dropped to 23rd place the bike looked slow then as he crossed the finish line starting lap 4 the engine went bang a con rod had snapped wrecking the engine . That ended our season. But thanks to our friends and family who then arranged a fund raising night that was a great success the money raised has go to rebuilding and tuning another engine that we had bought. We removed the other engine cleaned the frame down and took both the wrecked and the good engine down to John . During a phone call to John he said he was going to build mike a special engine as part of JT race support .But again luck was not on our side on the 24th of August travelling to Anglesey John was killed in a car crash . We final got the bike back on Sept 29th thanks to Michelle ( John`s wife ) due to the time frame john was working to the bottom end was built up and the cylinder head had been ported .The cylinder head needed all the valve gear fitting and setting up this was going to be my job .With the help of our pit crew the engine was lifted back into the frame and with along with the other bits and pieces the bike was coming tougher. Well as most of you know we have got a second bike . We will be sending the forks away to get serviced and at some point fitting a Ktech rear shock we are going to set this up for the wet or when needed . We are going all out to try and win the Pre-National championship in 2019 and we don’t need a year like 2018. So this is the reason for a second bike we have had some great support while we have been down in the dumps this year from family and friends and we at MDC racing are hoping to having a good 2019 season .
Some season that, sounds like you still have some positives to take from it, which is more than admirable ! Thanks for sharing and hope you have (a lot) better luck next year
Just a update : Well both bikes have been on to Dyno bike at Malton the 12 bike had a bad clutch slip during its first run so we cancelled that .The 13 bike was run in then it was checked to see what BHP and toque figures it had and we were really pleased with what we got ( no I am not telling ) . I ordered a full clutch pack and springs for the 12 bike something I forgot to say is the clutch in the 12 bike is the 13 bikes slipper clutch the 13 bike has a Suter slipper clutch fitted . Well the 12 bike was taken back to Dyno bike and ran faultless during its runs and we are really pleased with the BHP and torque figures its has more than the 13 bike (and no I am not telling ) but its a lot lol lol . So we now have two very good bikes we are racing the 12 bike at Croft weather permitting on March 22/3/4 just to give it a run out and set it up its got all new suspension back and front and if all goes well we are racing at Brands Hatch on march 30/31 in the Thundersport Pre-National 600 series. PS We have a spare engine for the 13 bike just in case lol
Both bikes Race ready should be on Track at Croft March 23/4 . Then off to Brands Hatch for the first round of the Thundersport Pre- National championship practicing 29th racing 30/1st . Anyone who is free pop along and we will put the kettle on we will be on the outer paddock just look out for a flag with a smiley face on . A big thanks to Rock Oil and Dave Odgen of Phoenix Race Support for all of there help supplying the team with there products for the coming season
The 13 bike is around the 134 mark but not less it was tuned by John Trigger just before he was killed in a RTA the first Dyno run JT did after the rebuild showed a bit more .The 12 is around the 139/140 mark but its a ex bsb bike I don`t know the engine history but I know it come from a well known team . All am interested in is were the power and torque start to drop off and gear the bike to suit one thing I have learnt over the years is no two Dyno`s give the same reading due to changing in weather hot or cold days and humidity . So trying to compare each others readings means nothing to me but yours looks like is a good strong engine . Some times its all about how good the bike is set up on that given day.
I’ll be there on the 29th, and possible racing in the pre National too if money allows, but will be there the whole weekend regardless. God I wish I could do a full season ! Bikes look great, good luck !
I will be up to have a mooch about Micheal, will definitely come over for a coffee I will be the one sulking as I'm not racing
Yes he was a really good guy .I was chatting to him the Tuesday before the accident and due to the engine going bang he had said to mike he was going to build mike a special engine as part of JT race support . When mike had his first Pre-National win at Cadwell mike met John coming out of parc ferme and he told john that a JT tuned triumph had just had its first win John was over the moon jumping around and patting mike on the back and hugging mike this to me was a lovely gesture by JT a true gentleman . We are going to run with the JT stickers on both bikes at the side of the screen Michelle John`s wife ( I hate the word widow ) was so please about this she is coming along to Donnington Park as our guest in July.
Well go looking for us it`s always good to put a face to a name even if you are wanted by the police lol
