NEMCRC Croft 28-29 March.

Discussion in 'Bobby Campbell Racing' started by trackdaybob, Mar 19, 2015.

  1. My entry confirmed today ;)

After two days at Cadwell the bike is now back with Paul at Black & White Bikes for amoungst other things front and rear suspension refresh/rebuild, new fuel tank, new front calipers, brake lever guard and an exhaust repack. I'm still waiting for the new bodywork to turn up else I'll be on the scrounge for a fairing ;)

Tyres4Bikes have agreed to support me again this year and I'll be running Continental Race Attack medium front and rear to start with. The plan is at some point to try the Endurance rear and a set of slicks at some point to see how I go on them.

So I'll be off to Croft for the first NEMCRC round. Running in F600. The plan is to travel up Thursday to do the ACU test on the Friday. Which will hopefully give me time to set the suspension up and some more tracktime prior to the meeting.

Then in at the deep end so to speak

  12. Fuckin blowing a gale here it is. Had to pack away the awning else I'd be in Norway by now.

Qualifying was wet-ish and I was just riding round really until Sammi Tasker (Fast Scottish lass) came by. I was able to stay with her and actually make a bit of ground up on her in places. I was happy to follow her if I'm honest and did until an error at turn one saw me in the gravel trap. I managed to surf the gravel right up until I got by a bale. Then fell over. No damage to anything really except my pride

Still, I had qualified 15th from 23. That would do.
The rain cleared, the sun came out but as I mentioned the bloody wind was raging.

Lunchtime was spent taking the awning down. Did that with help from a mate. There's no way I'd have managed on my own.

Race 1 we got two warm up laps and 7 laps. It was an average start but I managed to make up a couple of places into turn one and set about trying to settle in to it. My face mask had other ideas though and detached itself from the chinbar then occasionally block my mouth as I was breathing. Great excuse that eh? ;)

There was a group of four of us dicing throughout the race. I was faster some places, there were quicker in others so a few passes back and forth ensued.

It was all over very quickly. I finished 14th. Reasonably happy as I was comfortable and really not prepared to push too hard. Just wanted to finish it really.

Now just waiting for the second race. It's now a five lap dash. Hopefully it'll no be too long. I need a nice long hot shower then there is a box of Peroni too look forward to and some Stag chilli with rice ding for tea. That'll do.

One thing that has come out of today, I'm bloody race rusty. There's work to be done there.

  13. Good luck for race 2 tdb,
& great write up again. I really need to take notes from your lil tales.
Every time I come off track generally I've forgot half of what I've achieved.probably due to the adrenaline hit.

  14. First race today I finished 12th. More importantly I'm going quicker, lapping in the mid 34's. Hopefully I'll chip a little bit more away in second race.

  15. Suns out mate!!
    Bring it on

Tough weekend for me #91 in the F600. Finished all my races second from last but I made good progress all weekend and got quicker. It was a very very good standard so not too worried about the results!!

  18. Did you avoid the debris of that crash in race2, i didnt see what happened but his bike slid right toward us in the grandstand

IMHO it wasn't a bad event jfow1, if you consistently improved & came away intact too.

How did you get on Ginger.?

I trust the "he" in question wasn't TDB.?

  20. StMarks - i just went to watch, and it was abit windy (not as much as yesterday) and cold

But it was good yeah - it sure beat stayed at home doing nothing!

Im not talking about TDB when i said someone crashed out so dont worry about that :)
