  1. That's me home. I'm knackered. Plan was pizza, peroni and moto gp on tv. alternative = bed.
I'll put some more words together tomorrow.
    Cadwell tuesday, bring it on.

Thanks Chris for your help today. I appreciated it ;)

Yeah managed to avoid that...just!! I thought the red flag was going to come out. That R6 looked well smashed. I think they were both ok though?

  3. Both? Only one bike crashed just before turn one (as far as im aware?)
It slid across the gravel and looked like it may have bent the rear subframe upward from smacking into the air fence/bails infront of the barrier
I was in the grandstand and just before everyone came round on the next lap alot of people in the grandstand were shouting at the marshalls as there was debris on the left side of the tarmac around between the first and second pole on the left side of the track, and they were so oblivious to that, that you guys definatly done one lap while it was there

  4. Day 2.

I do remember waking through the night and hearing some rain against the van.
After a nice long lie thanks to local noise regulations, I emerged from the van to find damp tarmac but the sun was out. There was the odd spit as I got the bike ready but that was about it really. With the wind the remaining dampness soon dried. Ginger Chris turned up to say hello.

My first race soon came round. Two warm up laps and we were off. Not a great start but made up a couple of places in the first lap then set about the group in front. There was four of us and I was comfortable following but couldn't quite get close enough to put in a pass on the rider in front. I was faster from Tower through the Esses into Barcroft and I could get alongside (just) but didn't fancy pushing it in on the way to Sunny In. Maybe with a few more races under my belt I would have. That's how it finished. I was 12th. What was more important was I had gone quicker and had been lapping 1.5 seconds faster than the day before. I was happy with that.

The second race was shortened by a lap as time was running short. Not a bad start despite some contact between me and another rider and I was away and in a group again. A few passes back and forth. Racing ;)
A few laps in there was a big smash at turn one. I caught a glimpse of it as I was honking down start/finish and it was all I could do to avoid the riders in front avoiding the carnage in front of them. I did hit something, I don't know what it was but I remained upright. This got me right with a novice on a R6. He was riding well but I was comfortable following. I showed him a wheel a couple of times. Now aware I was there he started getting a little ragged and out of shape. He was clearly doing his best. Each lap I was carrying more speed through Sunny In and Out and nearly getting alongside to attempt an outbrake into The Complex. Next lap round he braked earlier, went a little tighter into The Complex which gave me the opportunity to go round the outside of him on the left leaving me perfectly placed for the right down to the Hairpin. Last lap flag and I kept my head down bringing it home in 10th place.

That was that. Van was soon packed and I was on my way back to Base.

There was times during the meeting I wasn't particularly enjoying it. The weather, the tyre decisions, etc, etc. I progressed througout the weekend and although my lap times are nothing to shout about particularly I'm sure given time at the circuit I can match my best times set on my old pi R1. Looking back though, I enjoyed it and that's why I do it. Hopefully I'll be able to progress a little more at Cadwell this weekend.

Lastly thanks must go to Stef and Claire at Tyres4Bikes and the RAFMSA. Dave Langley Snr for a lovely fresh engine.
Special mention however must go to Paul Fryer (Sideshow Pob) at Black & White Bikes who has went out of his way to ensure I had/have a bike to ride in the first place. He put a lot of time and effort in working around the trackdays I'd booked and had the bike ready last Thursday evening. Thanks mate ;)
