NEMCRC East Fortune 11-12 October.

Discussion in 'Bobby Campbell Racing' started by trackdaybob, Oct 5, 2014.

  1. Entry submitted yesterday whilst at Cadwell.
    I'm heading home. Again.
After this weekend I'm looking forward to it. Found a little something today. It's been a long time coming ;)

East Fortune is just south of Edinburgh if you're wondering. Nice wee place to go to race and NEMCRC are a great wee club. I've not raced with them for a couple of years so it'll be nice to go back.

Here we are then. All settled in the paddock at East Fortune.
There's been a shower but it's drying up and the forecast is good all weekend. This is Scotland. In October.
Warm up, qualifying and two 8 lap races tomorrow then three 8 lap races on Sunday to follow. Then I'm off home to see me Mum.
Looking forward to this. Not been here for 3 years and it's the first time with the 675 also.

I've got my last race at darley moor on Sunday & am hoping for some nice weather and personal bests to finish on a high

Damp warm up session this morning so just rode round and tried to reacquaint myself with the circuit.

It was drier in qualifying and attempts to up the pace were hampered with my unfamiliarity. However I've qualified 11th with a best time of 1:08.04. Pole is 1:03.

It's been a while but my race pace here is/was 1:03's. Hopefully I'll find more time come the races. I'm guessing everyone else will too ;)

    It's lovely day here now.

Only got one race today. It was touch and go if they'd fit the second one in before 6 so they've called it and we're now 1st race tomorrow morning.

So four races tomorrow. That'll keep me busy.

Was 11th in my race today. After a couple of laps I was on my own so not the most exciting race. My mate Steve Tweddle (R6) finished ahead of me in 10th. Hopefully I can get on the back of him tomorrow and he'll pull me along a bit. Managed to find a second from qualifying so a little improvement. Hopefully find a little more tomorrow and get on the back of the next group. It's 3 seconds though so a big ask.

    Now. Beer.

Funny day Sunday. The weather was beautiful but the track was damp. We were out first for our Saturday race.
I fitted a wet front. Hindsight would say I should have fitted a wet rear too. I struggled and after a couple of laps pulled in as I wasn't going to achieve anything. It soon dried up and I fitted a dry front wheel again.

Next race I got away well and for four or so laps was in the mix for 9th, 10th and 11th. I was focused and comfortable but couldn't make places up. 11th (again) it was. I had gone faster though, the timesheet had me in the 66's so I was happy to have found a wee bit of time albeit still 2 seconds of what I was expecting/wanting.

Third race was eventful. A mix up at the first corner saw me through to 7th for a few laps but the faster lads soon caught me and on the final lap I forfeited another place and finished 10th. I wasn't as comfortable as in the earlier race and sure enough, I had gone slower again. That was frustrating.

Whilst we were waiting for the last race there was a couple of big incidents in the preceding races and as all the medical staff were required there was no medical cover and the meeting was abandoned. A bit of an anti climax if I'm honest. I hope those involved are ok.

Quickly packed and away up to Perth to see me Mum, share chinese takeaway then enjoy a few pints of Peroni in the pub with me mates. It was good to see them, it's been a while.

Today I was on my way back down south. Now back at base.

Preparations have now begun already for next year. I have an engine being rebuilt for #1 bike. #2 will have the engine removed and stripped/refreshed as required. Both chassis will be stripped, cleaned, new bearings, etc. Then a decision will be made on whether I'm keeping both of them. Hmmmm.

So that's 2014 done. Six meetings and I've enjoyed them all. Slowly I'm finding the pace and aggression I had before I smashed myself up and finally I'm starting to gel with the 675. Hopefully I can pick up from where I've left off next year. Looking forward to it already.

Lol. Brilliant, I didn't realise someone from 675.cc was there racing. I'll see what photos I have of you. I do trackside photos at EF and KH. East Fortune is my "home track" and such a family feel with always excellent racing. After a day of racing pop next door ro the airplane museum.

Those photos from Esses 1& 2? I was standing on the other side track your 1st race Sunday.

  11. Re: NEMCRC East Fortune 11-12 Oct.

Yes it's always nice to go to East Fortune. Especially as I can nip home afterwards ;)
I'd not been for 3 years hence my lack of pace which was frustrating.
You might be seeing more of me next year. I might join Melville as well as NEMCRC.

I'm not sure where those pics were taken. Best guess the esses from the inside. That's more likely where my mate would be stood. If you do have any pics it would be great to see them.
Oh and a special mention to the marshalls at Snake with their pom-poms and cheerleading on every in lap. Brilliant :D
