hi guys, have noticed a very annoying light rattle..not sure where its coming from but seems to be more noticable low down the rev range, anyone got any ideas or should i take it back to the dealer (which is a 100 mile round trip)..thanks

Where is the noise coming from???? Is it there when the bike is out of gear and not moving. I've heard of the cam chain tensioners rattling. if it's only there when you are moving it could be a slack chain.

  3. Cam tensioner is most noticeable at 7k rpm, i have it and the dealer wont acknowledge the problem, i am working on that though!

You can notice it at idle a bit, but is really instrusive at 7k as i say, if not next thing to check as stu says is chain, or maybe a fastner has come loose somewhere? or is it not that kind of rattle?

You still haven't said if it there only when moving. The front brake discs can 'tick' when moving.

The discs float so they can move when the pads wear. Have a look and where the disc joins the hub they are held by round things (technical term). The round things can tick a bit but you only notice it at slow speeds.

I had a noise coming from mine guess No 1 cam chain tensioner wrong , it's out of warranty so i took the bull by the horns and stripped it down only to find that the big end shells have spun on the middle cylinder , I called a crank specialist told him what bike it was of and he replied " yeh middle cylinders common on them " on the one hand at least i know it wasn't anything i had done but I'm not impressed with the durability of a 2 year old bike with 4K my other bike 97 speed triple done 24k and has never let me down , Also why hasn't anyone posted this on any of the 675 forums everyone seems to be aware of the CCT issue but not this one . :(

Have someone sit on the bike and hold it upright. Unscrew the dipstick which is down the right hand side of the bike and wipe clean. Put the dispstick back in and fully tighten. Unscrew again and the oil level should be between the two marks.
