That doesn't deserve to carry the Daytona name. That's an embarrassment 765 engine or nothing at all Sent from my Nokia X20 using Tapatalk
There's no way this will be a Daytona. A new Daytona will need to be built on the Street Triple platform and not the Trident platform. It looks like a good bike - and I can see the market they're going for. But it's not a Daytona.
It's like what a lot of the manufactures seem to do: use the old model name from the much loved original for the new shiny upgraded bike, just so they can capitalise on the brand name to make you part with your pennies. Whereas in reality, it has very little in common with the original other than the name. The R (=MT) 7 springs to mind. I still wouldn't say no to a new 'Tona though.
A 660 twin would perhaps be able an accessible user friendly supersport bike on a budget. The Aprilia is a very capable bike,so why not, though not sure if they actually sell very many.
My street bike is a Tuono 660 (parallel twin). About 100hp, it's a near perfect commutting tool. I liked it better than the Street RS, which I was also shopping, though the motor isnt as good obviously. The light-middleweight(?) segment hopefully continues to grow.
I guess they can use the Daytona name on whatever they want.....they sold a Daytona T595 at one time (although it's motor was considerably larger than 600cc), and also a Daytona 1200....which was bigger than just about every other sportbike out there. End of the day it's just a name.
