    Ok your thoughts please.
Sick of my job, but I work hard and get paid well. Down side I am sick of it
New job potential - sounded out new potential boos today and I think it's mine if I want it, but the wages are half of what I earn now.

I am doing my pros and cons list, but I thought I would use this section for other advise and views.

The job would be to work for a motorcycle dealership as a sales exec, a complete career change for me, but could be better wages in the future.

At this stage I am not taking into account commission, I know this is uncapped and I am a good sale person so I can earn more in the future. But the basic is rubbish compared to what I am on now.

Do I go for it and Except that I am going to have to live on a lot less for a while, so spoiling family and me will take a back seat for a while.

A new career in motorcycle sales is very appealing as I love bikes for one

Your wise thoughts and observations are very welcome. This is real so please constructive help would be very welcome.
    Thanks in advance.

Being happy in your job is really important. Money is great but I have just moved from a job I hated to another one for £2k less basic. However struggling with money puts real strain n relationships. If you can afford to do it then go for it. Chances to change direction don't happen often and sometimes you need to go back to go forward.

What is it that you are sick of in your current job and could you change it? Also are you sure whatever it is that you are sick of will not also occur in your new job?

Similar thing has happened to me lately and I have a close friend earning £70k that is on the happy pills for exactly your issues. :?

In my case I'm almost definitely going to take the lower paid job, my house is paid for so the bills are less, my wife works as well albeit on pish money. However my friend Mark can't, his child is in private education and he's ticked up to his eyeballs plus huge mortgage, I worry for his sanity. All about choices I'm afraid.

I had the chance to move into a job years back involving a much loved hobby, I regret that occasionally which is why as I said earlier I'm 85% certain I'm going down the lower paid route and hopefully live to see my grand kids grow up.

Good luck with your choice, just remember you'll be a corrosive influence in the household if you stay in a job you resent going to every day, families are lost like that in divorces all too often. :|

Well, I was thinking that selling bikes was probably better than selling bricks. ;)

    Back to the OP.:
It's a tough call IMHO. Pros-vs-Cons list is the only logical way to approach it really, and try to be honest with your answers to yourself. This list will usually tell you the answer, even if it's not the one you are wishing for.
The grass is always greener, from a distance. You can only properly see that it's the same mud when you are stood in it.

FWIW I hate my job too, & really should do something proactive like you are considering. However I expect that events will force a change before long anyway.

I only work to earn money, enjoying my job does not come into it

    Earning the maximum cash does

Me personally I'd not take a job with lower wage unless it was a guaranteed stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Work is just that, work. There are very few jobs that people actually enjoy doing all the time.

Only you can decide. Selling bikes is seasonal so the basic will matter at least for nearly half the year. What are your basic commitments and is what you describe as "spoiling family" something which your partner is content to do without?
If the basic keeps a roof over your head and feeds you it may be an option.
If you want a general piece of advice "find something you like doing and find someone to pay you to do it".
If you are young and have manageable outgoings and if you see a future you'd like to explore then why not?
    Goodluck with your choice!

For the most part they're great...nearly everyone I work with is Hispanic, I don't have much in common with them, but show them a bit of respect and they'll gladly return it....and they love to help if you have a problem, very industrious guys & gals.

I've been doing this for 27 years, if it was crap I'd be doing something else.

A job is a job at the end of the day, as said I'd only move to a lower paid one if it had the opportunity of bigger and better in the future, loving your job is a big bonus that few enjoy, my job in all honesty is beneath me I've done 18 years of school all told to work in a horrible environment with some blokes that don't know there arse from there elbow but I get paid very well and the perks are good, Id could easily go under in my job, there is a high rate of people that go off with depression but I just go in with a smile and do what I gotta do, do you really hate your job that much?
