My daughter is undertaking research into the interactions between autonomous vehicles and motorcyclists, so that the needs of motorcyclists can be taken into account in the design of vehicles, and also in the legislation. This is part of her PhD research, for the Transport Research Group at Loughborough University. This is a very under-researched area, which has lead to motorcyclists being largely neglected. Therefore I would be very grateful if you could take the time (10 to 15 minutes) to complete the survey for her. Pick any one (just one) of the links; the questions are all the same, just in a different order in each link, so that something called “Order Bias” is avoided. If you need a self interest motivator to complete the survey, then you should be aware that the current motorcycle industry view is that motorcycles should carry a communication box to alert autonomous vehicles of your presence and intentions. We can all see the flaws for older bikes in this approach. Please feel free to share this message on other motorcycle Forums. Finally, at the moment this research is aimed at UK riders, so please do not respond unless you hold a UK motorcycle licence. https://lboro.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/how-do-powered-two-wheelers-predict-car-drivers-intention https://lboro.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/how-do-powered-two-wheelers-predict-car-drivers-intention-5 https://lboro.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/how-do-powered-two-wheelers-predict-car-drivers-intention-6
I started doing it on my phone and I think I've given myself a migraine! I'll do it from the hybrid tomorrow instead.
Done - wonder how long it will be before an autonomous vehicle comes out as the T2000 model... - and good luck with the PhD
Hi Dunx675. I work in the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle space. So if there’s anything I can do help just let me know! Sent from my iPhone using 675.cc
