Without wanting to jinx this years fest, anyone got any recommendations for a good fully waterproof winter jacket?

Am looking at replacing my Heine Gericke jacket that’s served me pretty well over the last 3 years. Only problem I’ve had with it (and I’m sure it’s not exclusive to this particular jacket) is I get water go up the back in heavy rain/motorway conditions- despite it being ¾ length, which tends to leave me with a wet arse.

    I’ve been looking at this;

    this

    and also this

    Budgets around £300

I've been very happy with my Triumph textile jacket.
Was £80 from Bulldog when I bought Frankie's old bike in 2011 - Jacket has outlasted the bike
(exact model no longer available) (treesr also got the ladies version for £50, while I believe it does what it's supposed to she doesn't like it as she finds it's too restrictive)
Checked WOT but nothing suitable in the reduced.

  7. I have the first Daninese one you mentioned.

I've had it for the last 9 months; so used it all last winter, and it's not once let me down. I haven't been wearing under thermals or anything like that either.

It's really comfy, completely waterproof (as tested out on the A1, in the pouring rain, on my Daytona 675 during last winter) and usable both winter and summer with the thermal layer removed.

Only once last winter did I have to wear a thin jack under this to keep warm however in fairness, I was on a Superbike, in the completely freezing cold on a motorway.

So that's where my money would go again bud.

  8. I would happily pay £500 for the carve master all day i wear it every day and I love it. Like Monty there I had the thermal lining out before winter was over and temperatures were just about 10. I wear it in summer too open all the vents and its breathes well. No sweating. Every other jacket I've had has got clammy in the summer.

You threw a curve ball into the mix Red. I believed it was only going to be Daniese stuff you were opting for!! Sure your find a suitable jacket as we all know you need one that can last and stand up to the pressures you will force it to receive on your daily commute!!

I was in Aldi last week and their textile kit is EC 2 rated for safety and looks really well made
The Large was too small for me and the XL was too large, but I'm really picky about stuff like that.
Which brings me to my suggestion as to which is the best jacket to have - the one that meet a quality and price bracket and fits the best

  11. Have a look at Harlversonns/Lindstrands stuff. Really well made and lots of choice. Try www.brandedbiker.co.uk or Moto GP legends

  13. Just make sure whatever you get is a goretex lining that way it breathes. Rst suits I've had always have the removable waterproof lining. They are shit they make you sweat as they aren't a breathable layer. They 100% will leak at some point too could be 2 weeks or 2 years. So my advice from someone who has had 5 different tex tile suits is just make sure it's got a non removable goretex lining.

  18. Alpinestars Drystar (Scout) was a decent suit when I bought it about three years ago. It even doubles as a nifty ski suit lol
