Went for a 3 mile run!!

Which rapidly degenerated into a one-lap jog, two lap walk, a three block crawl back home.

    I'm frickin' hardcore like that.

Hill Interval training with my mate then 'cindy' circuit. 35 mins hideous but felt good afterwards. I'm trying to get my cv back.

I loathe interval training, but does get you fit quick, and develops fast twitch and endurance muscle groups. I preferred it on pushbike to running. Don't know what you mean by trying to get cv back, I hope it never went away!

Not that you've asked my opinion, but here it is anyways!! It's different for different ages, but rule is you don't burn fat unless you're at least working your heart above 120bpm for at least 1 hr, which gets harder as you get fitter. If you're trying to burn fat, a trick I've found is eating a lot of fresh grapefruit, apparently it has an enzyme which helps to reduce fat storage etc. and stabilise blood sugar so you don't get peaks and troughs of insulin excretion. Go onto a total fat reduced diet, plus cut out milk, bread, alcohol, salt. That in itself will assist in dropping your resting h rate. Black Coffee before a run also helpful!

Unfortunately I've picked up a lot of injuries that have hindered running and I'm not particularly into cycling as an alternative. Cross fit keeps me fit but I miss the running. Though my achillies doesn't like it nor knees or back.

Interval training should only be done once a week (once a lifetime is my personal rule)...primary because it sucks massive donkey balls and will sap the will to live out of your very soul.
I've always been into cycling....it's fun, it's fast, you get to travel a bit and see more stuff, etc.
I've done a couple of 'century' rides, and they're really not that bad...they're just sommit you have to do if you're a cyclist.

My cousin's husband used to race pro.....30 miles (one way) a day to work and back, then a couple of centuries on the weekends "just for fun" (sado!)
I think you have to find the right balance....that was his 'job'...but it ended up being all he did, and my cousin decided to dump his arse as he was never at home.

I also think 'saddle time' is a good way to judge this stuff....a one hour MTB ride on the right terrain can be just as much of a workout as 2-3 hours on a roadbike.
I tried the roadbike thing and didn't like it....I was training on one bicycle in order to ride another, which just seemed fecking stupid...didn't last long. I did try a roadbike 'street criterium' race though...that was pretty fecking cool, although I ended up finding myself on "water bottle duty" pretty sharpish. Again.

But do it anyway....racing is addictive, I don't care what kind it is...finding out what you can't do can be just as much fun as anything else, and you'll still be doing something that most riders of anything two-wheeled will never be a part of.

6 mile off road mtb cycle jeez it's muggy today. Got stung to absolute buggeration by overgrown nettles on the bridleways, come on Salisbury cc what yer playing at? I'll get my strimmer out then shall I?

Not cos I wanted to, but because I had to drop van off for mot. Which it failed. For a wobbly f headlamp. I mean ffs, it's not even a reason, is it?

It's not wobbly now though is it? (courtesy of much glue gun action).

Pistyll Rhaedr waterfall in the Berwyn Mountains (mid Wales) on Sunday. It's really impressive after all the rain. I wanted to run up Moel Sych (827m/2,715 feet) and then along the ridge to Cadair Berwyn (also 827m) and on to Cadair Bronwen and then re where it led. Up to about 450m was fine, and then the cloud and rain suddenly came down, running up to 750m was a bit grippy as the path became a torrent of water gushing downhill, go off path and you sink into a bog full of very cold peaty water, and by that stage I couldn't see where I was going. The higher I got, the worse the visibility, it was impenetrable. Usually there's a great view of the tarn just below Cadair Berwyn but not this weekend, cloud so low I couldn't see anything, and that's particularly important on the ridge - it's a bit like Striding Edge, a wrong step or two and it's a several hundred metre scree drop. Didn't want a Mountain Rescue call out, and there is nowhere else to run up there except through the bog, so no choice: very disappointed, I turned back. It'll still be there in a few weeks time, I'll try again :)
