Every ride, you are processing information and acting upon it, the above image shows the system of motorbike control. * The first part of the diagram is "Information"; this overlaps every other phase of the system and is the most important. You need to take information in, look all around you. Scan the front and sides and carry out rear observation at appropiate points of the system. Observe the road surface checking for potential hazards. Use the information to plan how your going to deal with the indentified hazards and be aware of the unexpected. Give information; use your brake, indicator, headlight, arm signals and sounding your horn. The earlier the warning the greater it will benefit you. * The second part of the diagram is "Position". Ensure you are positioned so that you can negotiate around potential hazards and to keep your riding style smooth. Before repostioning consider observation, especially to the rear of the motorbike. * The third part of the diagram is "Speed". Make sure you are at the correct speed for the hazard. Take into account visibility and the road surface. Speed is important for corners, make sure your not going too fast (it's better to enter a corner slowly rather than faster). Aim to control your speed smoothly and give yourself time to ensure this. * The fourth part of the diagram is "Gear". Ensure you are in the correct gear for the correct speed you wish to negotiate the hazard. Try using your gears as a brake (exept in slippery conditions and snatched gear changes). It's important to know your bike's peak performance as this will help with deciding which gear to be in. * The last part of the diagram is "Acceleration". Use the throttle to maintain your speed and stability through the hazard. Try accelerating out of the corners rather into them, and take into account your observation
