Off to Snetterton this weekend. It's the second Thundersport round on the '200' circuit. I'll be on my trusty shopping bike but hopefully 675 mounted for the Military championship race. The 675 is on @Sideshow Pob 's dyno today and all being well, it'll be going in the van once TSGB confirm they'll allow me to enter the Military race on it. They allowed one of my team mates to do it last year so don't see any issues in that regards. We'll see.
@Sideshow Pob held up his part of the bargain but after speaking with TSGB this afternoon, I'll not be running the 675 at Snetterton now but hopefully will run it next month at NEMCRC East Fortune and then TSGB Cadwell.
I have to enter it in an additional class and can't afford it. It also does need a couple of wee things doing and I'm pressed for time. So a day in workshop, possibly a trackday then it'll be all set to go provided I find the funds.
Started in the 1:35's this morning and down to low 32's now. Last time here (2017) was in the 27-28's so work to do. Again I'm thinking I'll be lucky to qualify for the main races at this rate. Think I'll need to be at the very least sub 1:30. All good fun though and the afternoon to look forward to and what remains of the good weather. Forecast isn't good for tomorrow but that may well work in my favour. Turn my back for 2 seconds
Wet qualifying saw me 34th on the main grid. Race one was wet. Finished 23rd overall, 7th in CB class. Race two was dry but the wind was a nightmare. 23rd again but only 9th in class. They ran out of time so military race is first one today.
Patchy in warm up but wobbled around and was 14th quickest. First race was military race. Proper wet. Finished 26th. First 500 race was great. Having a great time sloshing about was up to 14th but went grass tracking at the esses under the bridge and lost places. Finished 18th. 5th in class.
Still keeping her upright, whilst gradually getting back to your pace. Makes it a good result imho Bob.
Mate, I'm delighted with my performance at the weekend. Difficult conditions at times but I had a ball. Last race was also great fun. On a rapidly damp/drying track, all on wets, most of it was spent in a group of five of us all dicing for 20th place. Swapping places two, three times a lap. Clive at the front slowly edging away, I made my way through to get with him. We then had a great ding dong for a few laps. Having the time up the straight to flick the bird and wanker gestures to each other. We were each strong in different sections of the circuit so it was entertaining. He just pipped me across the line so 21st for me. It was a great weekend racing. Sure the weather worked to my advantage a little but I was racing with who I consider to be my peers and easily matched them in the wet. In the dry I'm lacking a little but we head to Cadwell next
