When I close throttle from about 10,000 rpm I hear what I can only describe as a 'bbbrrrrrrrrrrrr' noise down to about 6000rpm. It doesn't sound like a metal on metal sound but i've never noticed this on any other bike i've had.

When I start the bike from cold it sounds great, no unusual ticking and overall it's smooth and powerful.

It's done it since I picked it up and doesn't sound like it's getting worse... anyone else have this?

Any ideas what it could be?

    Cheers

Fwiw I too have the same noise, as long as I am reading bbbrrrrrrr Correctly always worried me at first but I think it is just a characteristic of the engine

Have you checked your drive chain recently?

Thanks however a new chain didn’t change the noise and it’s well adjusted.

A knowledgeable chap a my local bike shop thought it might be cam chain resonance. If it gets too loud he suggested a manual cam chain tensioner. It seems to stay at a constant volume though.

Thanks Simmo, at least it’s not just mine. The guy at the bike shop also mentioned that it’s a characteristic of that great motor. Tending to think all is well, cheers.
