My 2017 675R is going through what I reckon is a lot of oil. I don't use it on the track, just 'spirited' road use. It's going through 1 litre of oil every 1,000 miles. It's got about 6.5k miles on the clock.
I've never had a bike that's gone through this amount of oil so quickly.
I know this has come up in the threads quite a few times, but those threads are very old and may refer to older models.
    What's folks view on this?

My 2016 gets mainly used on track, it doesn’t get any special treatment just the standard triumph service schedule and it doesn’t use a drop! 1L per 1000miles seems a bit high to me but might well be in spec. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon!

high revs, high speed will burn oil. That said I haven't used any oil on my 2013 in 700 miles so perhaps I'm not riding it hard enough

  4. Bit unusual for a newer shape to burn oil.

My 2014 is on 15k now, spirited road and a few Trackdays a year, doesn't burn any.

It's still under warranty, so take it back to where you brought it and get to have a look

  5. What oil are you using?

  6. I would say unusual for the newer bike, never had to top mine up in 15,000miles, only does 3000miles between oil changes though.
The older bikes were known to use a bit, my 06 did.
Probably worth a visit to the dealer although some manufacturers have pretty big allowances for what they consider "normal" oil consumption.

Note to self, don’t buy a 2nd hand bike serviced only every 6000 track miles.

When I say Triumph service schedule I meant once a year! It’s effectively been serviced every 2000 miles!

Not trying hard enough! Should be getting 6000 track miles a year

  10. Personally I’ve only had one 675 engine do this & that was due to a piston ring not seated properly from the factory.
I would definitely be pushing the problem back to Triumph to sort out.

  11. That'll no doubt be in spec. Usually manufacturers quote 1 litre per 1000km. However, I wouldn't be having that. My advice to you would be to try a different oil (not weight, brand) to see if that has any effect.

Otherwise, do a compression test and see what numbers you get so you can go back to Triumph with more conclusive evidence.
