Great work with the wrap again, although its a shame the awesome black & gold only lasted one season. No miniature version this year? Are you racing or just a serious trackday rider, apologies if you've mentioned it before can't get the search to work.
Cheers! To be honest the black/gold combo would have continued into this year but after a crash at Snetterton it was looking rather sorry for itself cosmetically. There may be a miniature version if my 8 y/o brother in law wants to 'help' do it, it's his mini moto in reality. Very much just a serious trackday go-er, Not got the skill, money or time to race big bikes at this point. I have a pitbike 140 also so that might get entered in a round or two.
Weather was good so took the bike out this afternoon - fitted a brake lever guard ready for my track day and wanted to make sure everything was good Stopped off at the local bikers pub - jeez it was fuller than a full thing
First ride for me as well today, on the Thruxton though as it was nearest the door to get out and it's got heated grips, plus i think its more forgiving when the road conditions still aren't perfect, Daytona will be out very soon though. Local bike meet was busy as well although can't tell from my picture.
Yours is definitely the best looking bike in the melee. You're both giving me parking phobia shudders with your photos though!
I finally got around to getting my arse into the garage and into Mr J's toolkit to do a bit on the R. On with the new tank sliders, new anodised heel guards, second hand Rizoma mirrors (thank you x) and new tank grips. I managed to do a spectacularly bad job with the latter and have even managed to get my grubby finger prints under the plastic. Meh. It's staying like it.
The black shim under the Rizoma Mirror adaptor, is that a purchasable part? Or have you made that? I ask as I have the adaptor but never bothered fitting mirrors as they were costly and I didn’t like the fact the adaptor didn’t match the contour of the fairing and for the money I was like na. But yours looks quite tidy.
I'm still umming over whether I like 'em myself. I haven't had the chance to use them yet either, so I don't know how practical they'll be. They can't be any worse than the wobbly originals! The rubber mount thingies come with the adaptors as part of a kit (BS791B), which I managed to buy at a bargain price from eBay. I wouldn't have got them, or the mirrors, if I'd had to pay full price.
From a couple weeks ago. Was invited into a studio by a YouTube channel called wolf tales to do an interview discussing my bike which was the easy part and then talk about my own mental health issues and those in men Sent from my Nokia X20 using Tapatalk
I'm soooooo sorry to hear that you've had mental health issues. I'm soooooo glad to hear that you were strong enough to talk publicly about it; every time someone speaks out, a little bit more of the stigma is chipped away. The 'bike ain't looking too shabby, either.
Thanks and yes, it does help to talk. Episode doesn't come out for a good few weeks. But I'm good now, taken quite a few months but still here Sent from my Nokia X20 using Tapatalk
Daytona has just celebrated its 10th birthday and is now approaching 25,000 miles so thought I'd treat it before I do the main service in the summer. Some expensive Motul 300v and new chain and sprockets, the old ones had done 14k miles and while the DID chain was still in good nick both front and rear sprockets were showing some wear from the rollers, the rear alloy Renthal had held up surprisingly well though. Went for a cheapo steel rear this time although sprayed it black as it looked a bit too cheap and nasty in bare steel. Next big job in the summer is new oil and seals in the Ohlins forks, and lubricate/adjust the headstock bearings at the same time.
Minor tweakage: They're not properly adjusted yet as I need to get out on it. Hopefully I might be able to see more than just a vague, vibrating blur behind me with these ones
Was out shooting roadside when my mate turned up who also happens to be a roadside photographer. I gave him the camera for a few cheeky flybys on my bike Sent from my Nokia X20 using Tapatalk
Oil, filter, brake pad change, and chain adjustment on the STR this weekend. A little 96,000 mile treat maybe a wash next weekend
New front tyre fitted today: Took it for a spin to make sure all is good (and it is) but.... Lost the carbon fibre tip off the exhaust: When I came off it at Donington it felt loose so looks like the rivets finally gave up Anyone know if you can get these or does anyone have a spare one??
Finished the last of this years service jobs, brake fluid change, new wheel seals and strip/grease the rear caliper, then off to the local bike night. Usually take the Thruxton but the Daytona got a lot of positive comments as well, many thinking it was new and couldn't believe its 10 yrs old given the condition Hope they are far enough apart @Janey to not give you parking nightmares
