  3. Some stuff to change the fork oil and check/grease headstock bearings on both bikes.
38mm socket and slotted socket will fit both the Daytona and Thruxton for the top yoke and headstock bearings.
Adjustable pin wrench for the Ohlins top cap and Showa BPF top cap adaptor for the Thruxton.
K-tech fork seals for the Daytona and Motul 5w oil, apparently its the nearest to the Ohlins spec viscosity and I'll chuck it in the Thruxton as well.
    Wish me luck:D

  5. I am NOT going to pimp the Gen2. It's my trackroad bike and I'm not going to be precious about it. I am NOT going to buy shiny bits for it... Oh fekkit

  6. A couple of bits and pieces:D, mix of service items, consumables and parts I expect to need through past experience of failures.
I'm not planning to ever sell either of my bikes so thought I'd get some parts in stock on top of the usual oil/filters/ coolant etc. so they won't be off the road longer than necessary, they'll both hit 30k in the next few years.
Quite a few for the gearshift which has failed twice on the Daytona and is also a protentional weak point on the Thruxton, pivot plates for both, Daytona with a new detent wheel, good to see the pivot plates have a different appearance than the old ones, hopefully a better material or heat treatment will make them last longer, associated bits gearchange & detent springs, clutch nuts C washer all common to both bikes.
Spark plugs, gaskets, o rings for the next valve check service on the Daytona, EBC HH pads that fit either bike as does the axle nut, wheel seals, gearbox output seal fits both, new filler cap seal for the Daytona as its stored indoors during the winter, got that from sprint engineering with some of the other bits, Triumph don't list it separately. Thruxton air filter, valve check doesn't require any consumables, and a new right angle valve when I get around to stripping the tyre off as its got a very slow leak which I think is the valve.
Trip machine leather grip wrap from India for the Thruxton, not just for looks, the original grips are wearing out and they're heated so not cheap to replace.
Also some 2" polishing pads, mix of foam and wool, with extra wool pads as they get used on the Thruxton engine cases, for when I get bored in the winter.:(

  7. Noticed something interesting comparing the pivot plate in the T1190326 detent wheel/plate kit and an old one from my gearchange shaft swap.
    New kit part is a noticeably different colour, hopefully this indicates an improved hardening process or slight change of material, a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶i̶t̶s̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶1̶m̶m̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶r̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶l̶e̶n̶g̶t̶h̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶"̶f̶o̶o̶t̶"̶ ̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶a̶s̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶0̶.̶6̶m̶m̶ ̶t̶a̶l̶l̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶I̶'̶m̶ ̶g̶u̶e̶s̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶a̶l̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶i̶t̶i̶o̶n̶/̶a̶n̶g̶l̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶e̶n̶g̶a̶g̶e̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶t̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶e̶l̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶r̶e̶d̶u̶c̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶a̶r̶.̶

Edit - forget about the supposed dimension changes, I was comparing with a used Thruxton pivot plate which is remarkedly similar:confused:, both new versions do still have a different appearance and markings though, so hopefully are still improved.

  8. Re-stocking some cleaning/polishing supplies.

Bilt Hamber cleanser polish and double speed wax, a good combination if your paintwork isn't too swirled and needing more correction, which mine never is, still a place for an old school wax, I don't really need the longevity of a ceramic or graphene sealant as it takes no time compared with a car.
Autoglym super resin polish, which i also use, is a good, cheap, easy to get hold of alternative which does a very similar job.

Gyeon quick detailer, not tried this yet but has great reviews for adding gloss, run out of my old Meguires quick detailer which I'll sometimes use in the summer to give the paintwork a quick wipe over when they don't need a full wash.

Good old Autosol, mainly for the thruxton obviously.

Ammo.243 general purpose degreaser, works great and very economical as it can be diluted up to 80:1, I usually mix up spray bottles at 20:1, my previous 1l bottle must have lasted 6 yrs at least.
Before anybody asks, I do ride them as well as clean them, many I bump into seem to think you can't do both:rolleyes:

  9. I'm suitably impressed. And my bikes are thoroughly jealous as they only get a bucket of cold water. Very occasionally. If they're lucky...

  10. Cold showers will toughen them up, mine are probably way too pampered.

Don't be, you have a life:(

  12. I'm in love with Vinted. I found these Rev'it Xena 1's in brilliant condition for the princely sum of... £13. I just couldn't say no to them.

  13. How sexy are these tank protectors??? I just hope that I can do a better job of putting them on than the pigs ear that I made with my last attempt.

Make sure you fit them when there's a bit of heat in both the tank and the protectors.
Possibly direct sunlight (if you're lucky enough to get some) on the tank and a hair dryer on the protectors.
Don't fit them in a freezing cold garage.

  17. HID kit failed on first start after winter layup, although I think its done well to last 8 yrs on a bike, thought i'd go down the simpler route instead of squeezing in all the gubbins again so bought these Osram cool blue intense, absolute waste of money and barely any less yellow than a normal halogen, hate the yellow look next to the LED centre light especially after being used to the perfectly matching HID, so buying another HID kit that looks the same as my old one so at least it should all fit.
Only use the low beam side so should have kept the spare from the first kit instead of selling on hereo_O

got these polished/clear anodised bar end mirrors for the Thruxton, I don't mind the standard black bar ends, they give a great view but because I've polished everything else possible thought these might be a good match. Quality looks great although unfortunately more form over function for me, only half the size so view is restricted, won't clamp properly on the bars and to get the mirror body level because of the clip ons they have to be set at an angle that looks weird when parked, may go straight back on ebay if i can't fix the issues.

You could try lunex plasma xenon bulbs.

They are halogen bulbs but give a proper white colour.

  20. Thanks, I probably should have asked for suggestions before buying the Osram, I'd have definitely give them a try, yours certainly looks a good match (presumably the middle pic) but don't want to take another chance, in case they don't look as good in my more basic clear gen3 headlights rather than your projectors, at least I know what i'm getting with the HID.
    Cheers:smileup:
