As above, should be changing the company car soon, or so I'm told!

We have the choice of the above, might be able to choose a colour, but that's not a given, as we often buy a bulk of one colour.

I don't want an estate, so it'll be a 5dr, we can't add options, so chances are it'll be the entry diesel models.

    I think the Focus is a 1.5, Astra 1.6

Anyone tried them or run one? The tax cost really isn't an issue as there almost identical, I don't care for mpg, or rear space.

Cheers, and no I can't have a Golf or BMW or pay extra. It's as above :)

  2. Focus.

  4. I would choose the Focus, can't say I've liked too many Vauxhall/Opel/Holden models for a few years now.

The new Astra is getting fab reviews, I normally hate them, but it's tempting me, quite like the new look too

  6. Focus.
Years ago I would have said the Vauxhall but I started to go off them around 2004. The Focus is a great piece of kit. Last one I had was a Titanium X diesel thing. Great car.

Mmm, does anyone have experience of the new models though, as I personally hate both, but clearly there not as they were years ago . . .

Sadly, I get to drive both. Focus every time. Much more of a drivers car though please don't think it'll handle like a go kart. It also reads SUCOF when viewed in the mirror which is a bonus.

One of my mates has a the Astra GTC seems a nice car diesel nice and quick. Doesn't help much if your on a lower spec. But can't imagine the inside would differ drastically which I would say Is quite nicely styled

It's all down to personal opinion. They are both produced for the same market and I seriously doubt either one would be a great deal different from the other. They are produced to compete against each other. Personally I'd say you wouldn't be too sadden if you just picked from a hat!!

18 months ago, I went with my dad to choose between Astra and Focus (petrol though, not diesel). He was looking at used 13 plate up to 20000 miles. We both drove Astra 1.6 and 1.4 Sri and Focus 1.6 Zetec for demo.
The Focus was firmer suspension and felt a better handling car, but harsher over the bumps, whereas the Astra was smoother.
Astra seemed to be better quality and showed less signs of wear. IMO the interior and exterior of the Astra is a nicer design.
We both concluded the Astra was the better choice, and he bought a metallic black 1.4 SRi 13 plate with 19K on the clock. and now done about 36K miles in total with no issues.

plus the Astra is built in UK... so feeds more Brits, the economy and the state.;)

but go drive them both on demo, then decide.

Whilst grinning thro gritted teeth at the Vauxhall dealer who failed my 4 yr old van for wobbly headlamp bulb or some shiz, he told me that Astra has just won euro car of the year this year.

I'm swayed toward the Astra, the new new one, and I think I'll ask for white or red, they both look ok.

It's a bigger boot, and more bhp, plus has less buttons than the focus, I hate buttons TBH.

    Will keep you posted.

Order red, get white...sounds like the private sector get them from the same place as us! Lol. Standby for tyre pressure sensor failure....service due....and sundry other bing bong warnings which mean you need to pump the scroll button like a quickshot joystick before you can drive away!

Nice motor pal. Hope you're going well
