Longer clutch cable for Daytona

I’ve raised the clip on heights and riding position by swapping and inverting the standard bars.

Works very well for me but the clutch cable is rather tight and possible MoT failure as it (just) restricts the LH lock.

Any suggestions for a longer clutch cable please?

Thought I saw that a Speed Triple 1050 cable was an option somewhere but cannot recall.

It would save swapping back again for the mot.

  2. Sorry, can't help with the cable but would be interested to see a pic of the bike with the swapped/inverted clip ons at some point, if you get chance.
    Thanks
As an alternative could you do something with the lock stops to slightly reduce the lock, even just for the mot?
A longer cable would be better obviously, maybe contact someone like venhill, see if they'll give you the relevant lengths, or buy their universal kit and cut to length.

How about fitting the clutch cable from an ST675.?
    - They should be precisely the same as the Daytona equivalent, but presumably slightly longer due to the elevated bars on an ST.

Apologies some duplication but you get an idea.

They first feel odd, almost upturned but this is a false impression that fades.

Now that I’m used to the these, it works fine for me. Like riding a VFR!

I thought soon afterwards that I’d revert to standard as some of the standard bikes “attitude” is lost. But it’s been like this ever since; far more comfortable.

I had to make a simple bracket for the brake reservoir and remove the locating pins from the inside of the switchgear clusters (rather than drill the bars) and that was it. Its just the slightly too tight clutch cable that is the only unresolved niggle. Not a problem day to day.

Be interesting to learn if an ST675 clutch cable does indeed serve the purpose for this adaption of yours. Presumably that approach should also be amongst the cheapest option to trial, as they seem to be readily available on the Evibay.

    Indeed, hence my initial post.

Having looked at evil bay the clutch cables are posted as dual purpose STR AND Daytona! Only one way to find out I guess.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve ordered an eBay cheapie. If this is too short I can pursue your suggestion.

  16. I have got street triple 2016 and daytona 2013 cables. I will have a look how much they differ.

The eBay cable (STR and Daytona) has arrived and measures 1260mm. Not fitted yet but it looks encouraging!
