Hi lads. I recently had a Metzeler Raceteck RR COMPK slick fitted to my 675R. As I was inspecting the tire I found what seems to be a small dent approximately one inch in from the rim. Its maybe 2cm long by 1cm wide. It's not on the side wall it's on the curved side one inch in from the rim on both sides. It looks like it may have been caused during fitting or sitting in a storage rack for a time. I've never seen anything like it before. This is my first set of slicks, is this normal?

I'd be tempted to put a warmer on it and put some tyre pressure in to see if that sorts it out.

Yep… I was thinking exactly the same thing. Only reason I didn't was I thought it may be a tell tail sign of some internal damage and heating it up may hide it?

That's fair, although a race tyre is a pretty tough item, so structural damage seems unlikely. But I'm no expert.

  6. That looks like a bungee cord hook?

If it's only there it should be fine will melt away quickly

I wouldn't be worried. I've had stuff like that on a my supermoto slicks.

Thanks for the replies lads. General consensus seems to be its fine and just marked on the outside. I just had to be sure. I'm in Jerez next week and with all of the things that can go wrong, tire failure shouldn't be one of them!
