    right were do i start........
i took the r1 out first its a 2009 2000k on the clock at £7999, i only got to poodle around woking town centre a bit, and got onto a 50m limit for a bit aswel. the clutch is a little twitchy but i suppose you get used to it or adjust with after market levers etc to make it better. the torque feels quite flat and nice.........but, the main thing about it is the pick up and the speed OMG  , i was behind about 5 cars and in third gear, when we got to a straight and i could go past the traffic, i though 'ill just go past these lot and see' a little blip of the throttle and a split second later im past all the traffic, and still going, i look down at the speedo and i think it reads 130 mph 'ehem' cant be quite sure of course. lol Jesus time to slow down.

so i get back to the dealer and give the bike back and whilst im on my way to test the ktm i have an epiphany.
At the moment ive lost my bottle a little bit, now with this bike underneath me (with its absolutely ridiculous speed) and my bottle returned i would most definately kill myself on the british roads! So ergo ive decided not to get an R1.

the ktm however (which looks nicest imo) sounds awesome on start up, i was however surprised when i sat on at how tall it is i have an 32inch inner leg and was on my tippy toes to reach the floor dunno if the wp suspension etc can be adjusted (without affecting the handling), but other than that it feels like quite a comfy riding position , clutch control is quite a bit like the tona i think, so could easily get used to riding it around town and commuting etc i think. anyhoo got to a motor way and was quite impressed with the torque in most gears and and with the overall speed and handling, tis a very quick bike also but not absolutely ridiculous like the r1. coupled with the fact that its not to common a bike and it looks nicest i think this will be what i get next.

what do you guys n galls think!?

Nice jacket, BTW....are you a fireman, by chance??

  5. Hmm tricky one. Both look pretty sweet but the RC8 does look nice with the orange and black.

If I were you I would test ride them both in the same areas if possible to compare.

  6. are you mental  ...everyone and his granny has an R1...and the KTM is pure sex on wheels...i cant believe you havent bought it yet..

p/s...if you do buy it i will hate you for ever.... but i want to see piccies....LOTS of piccies

kTM all the way. Looks like something from the future. Best looking bike in being made by a long long way. Would be the first thing I bought if I won the lottery! Very jealous if you get it! Colour scheme looks good. The oly thing I have noticed when drooling over second hand RC8s in local dealer is that the sharp edges of tank seem to get chipped?
Good luck and post pictures when you buy!

The KTM 'Optimus Prime' is awesome but in white for me. The R1's are soooo common!

  9. Ktm for me as well, you can't complain about the r1's kit you would have to spend some serious cash on that rear

+1 on the KTM. Much less common than the R1 and it looks like a stealth fighter with all those angles. They had one on the dyno at the Ace on Friday night and it sounded amazing.

Oh yea the exhaust would be the first thing to go but, OMG exhausts for the rc8 are absolutely ridiculous for example........http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KTM-RC8-R-Akr ... _500wt_922

  12. KTM over the R1. Would try and get one of the Non R versions that dealers still have kicking around, brand new £8995

As said lots of times already pal the KTM by a mile over the Yam Clitty (Every C'nt has one! :D) No seriously both fantastic dream bikes but go for the "wow" factor not the "just another lemming" approach IMHO!

  18. At least on the rc8 you have a lovely akra as a stock exhaust, with the r1 you would need to change those horrible stock ones!

As for the one you have, make sure it has the recall work done on the valves and bearings, when i was researching it seemed a popular one
