Just had my sept 10 Daytona valued against a street R and was offered £5100 so losing £3200 in 2500 miles of use :-(.
Is this normal or is the dealer having a laugh?

I would try a few other dealers as it seems a little painfully low... but personally a private sale would be the way to go - especially with summer around the corner. For a 10 plate you'll get more than £5k if it's in good condition. :)

Guess it depends what you paid to start, or of you px'd something for the 675.
What about PX against a STR 10 plate?

I would say he's trying it on, he wants the max mark-up on your second-hand bike on resale and he wants the max profit out of the new STR. Greedy.

An 06 675 in good nick etc etc is fetching £3700 min at the moment I think, so an extra 4 yrs depreciation is only another £1400? I don't think so. Against another new bike he should do better than that imho.

It's on a 60 plate if that makes a difference.

I would of had a laugh if I were you....right in his face!! ....A bike like that should sell for @ £6000 in a private sale, - or maybe a tad below that...but in all fairness to the dealer, he's there to make money, & if you buy a bike and then decide to change it 6 months later, then you must expect to take a big hit in terms of depreciation....it's value probably dropped by £1500 the moment you rode it out of the dealership.

There were dealers a few weeks back selling un registered 675's for £6499, so £5100 for a used one would be about right, against that kind of price, I know its really poo, but id wait a bit then try selling it privately when the suns out!

Have a nose on Bike Trader, thats where you'll get a better idea, as it needs to be competative with others :(

  9. Time of year. This time last year my ZX6r was worth around £4500. When I changed in June I got £5250 (only l£300 less than I had paid 12 months before).

The important fact is the cost to change. However with used bikes becoming harder to get hold of this is where dealers will make their money. Sounds like your dealer is trying to get a holiday to the Bahamas

I got £5800 part exchange for my low mileage 2009 675 against a new 675R so I think he's trying it on! But like all these things it depends on condition/mileage and what your trading it against.

Condition is A1 and mileage is 2500 and it was against a new £7350 street triple R.

  15. They are a ghreat dealer so i dotn want this to sound too negative

they have always had a tendency to give low part-ex's when i have enquired in the past, plus its probably a bad time to sell a 675 as i suspect he will have lots of part-ex's lined up for the 675r so that could be another reason

What ever you do, dont bother with we buy and superbike!..

Ive just been offered £3650 for my 09 facelift model with under 5k on the clock!

  17. Deegee is spot on here - all dealers have a minimum margin they work to, in other words they have to make a minimum amount per sale per bike - it wouldn't matter if the bike was only a day old with 10 miles on the clock and you tried to trade it in, you would only be offered a price minus the dealers margin (the amount he expects to make from a re-sale) This is when you often hear dealers says 'it depends how much is in it'
