That's exactly what I did, it's a smaller battery in height but better cranking capacity.

  2. I would first try to revive the dead battery. If it doesn't work, then I would think of a new one.

My new charger came today and it's currently doing its magic to current battery I'm hoping for the best. Thanks for everyone's advice. I have looked into the YT9 but it's bigger and seems as though the battery tray is bigger in newer bikes to accommodate the battery.

  4. The mode you selected is perfect and it's good that it arrived at step 4. Step 5 is a test of the battery to see if it can keep the charge (AKA if it's a zombie). If it doesn't go to step 6, disconnect, leave for 5 minutes and try again. I had this issue with my car battery, but the second time it went to step 7 (100%).
You do not need to wait to go to step 8. That is maintenance mode to keep the battery at 100%.

Did you need to revive the bike battery with the car battery or the charger was able to recognise it (it had more than 5V)?

Thanks for all your help, so it went through the full cycle first time so that was good, left it to charge over about 12 hours.

Since the charge here are the voltages of the battery-

12.7v- 1 hour after full charge
12.58v- 9 hours after full charge
12.52v- 1 and a half days after full charge

So clearly still some issues but has improved as after a full charge using my old charger I was only getting about 12.3v. Happy I got the new charger (thanks for the recommendation).

Next question is should I give the battery a full charger over the next 24 hours again without the "recon" mode on or do it with recon mode on to try it again?

  6. The manufacturer recommends recondition mode once per year or after full discharge.
    Keep charging without recond mode.
But where did you keep your battery when verified the voltage? On the bike?
Maybe something on your bike constantly consumes electricity.
Do a check with your multimeter.
This time you have to link it in series with the bike and battery and check the drawn amps while bike is of. If you don't have an alarm, it should be very low.
Search on internet on how to correctly perform this test.

  7. The test is called Parasitic Battery Drain. Here is a video on how to perform it:

The only thing that would drain the battery is the alarm, however, I have put it in winter mode.

I checked the voltage with the battery attached to the bike.

Will have a look how to do the test, and will put the battery to charge over the weekend.

Thanks for the video, will give it a go at the weekend.

Fully charged over the weekend, took off charge and within 30 seconds of turning ignition on the voltage had dropped!

Looks like it's a new battery for me then.

I did try doing the test in the video above but wouldn't work, think I will need to post a picture of my multimeter for some help

  12. I think you connected wrongly the minus and plus connectors of the multimeter.

How much did the voltage dropped?

Ok after leaving the battery to fully change again I tested to see the amp usage when the bike alarm is in winter mode (no sensors on, very low power consummation).

Power used when in winter mode- 0.01amps

Power used when in winter mode and ignition "on" (only lights come on, start up sequence and instrument cluster not turned on)- 4.95amps
