Been reading the recent thread about the latest GoPro, but wondered more generally about the world of bike cameras.

Is GoPro the only name you need to know or are other makes good? What have peeps here used? Whats the good, whats the bad?

I think I'm after a camera thats the most convenient and least hassle possible, while till delivering decent footage at an affordable price. I did wonder about Dogcam Bullet as it comes with a suckers mount. Im erring towards small bike mounted rather than helmet Cam but not sure whats best. Not keen on drilling holes in my fairings, or worse, helmet.

  2. No drilling required for any cameras.

First of all check your computer spec. No point spending mental money on a 4k capable camera if you can't edit the footage.

I've used pretty much all of them professionally and their is a reason the gopro is so popular and used in broadcast more than others.

Hero 3 is tiny but by far and a long long way the best optics on any of the available cameras.

Have a look at these, they have a screen built in, remote control and you can mount them at various angles and turn the lens to get the shot the right way up.. Mates of mine rate them much higher than the GoPro.

You dont have to go round with something that looks like a toy camera stuck on your head/bike.

  9. There is an app now for Go Pro to view and set up Via mobile, though you need the Wi Fi adapter. Every thing I see on Reality TV's recorded with a gopro's it seems. They are the Best, robust, and very adaptable to all situations. but at a cost.

  10. I was looking at 4Kam Cameras, but not sure i can be bothered with all the wiring....

  11. the new go pros have built in wifi no bac pac needed. Although we have broken 2 of them. Never broke a 2 !

if i was going to buy one for simply recording rides and track days i would go for the silver or get a cheap hero 2

  12. Just got a gopro silver best camera ever. Have tried some others to save money but they just did not do the job wish I had got a go pro in the first place. Have a muvi veho atom for sale with 8 gb card if anyone wants pm me £20

GoPro's are pretty awesome, I've not had mine on the bike yet, but filmed almost 2000miles worth of HD footage from wind shield of a car out in the states with one, the quality is amazing. I've got the HD Hero 2, great camera, can't imagine how good the new 3 must be though. Go for the GoPro, you won't be disappointed! :D

  14. cant go wrong with the sony action cam!
