Hi, yesturday i dropped my bike on its side in the garage while it was running and it istantly cut out as it was late and dark i left the bike untill this morning to asses the damage. When I went to look at the bike this morning I was quite happy that the crash protection had taken all of the damage. However when I turned the key the engine management light flashed up rapidly and everything went dead. Now when I turn the key I get no response from the bike what so ever apart from the alarm going off when i disarm the alarm its showing a fault code saying loss of power. I initially thought it may have been a fault with the alarm so i disconnected it and plugged in the jumper plug, but there was no change, iv visually checked all of the fuses including the one under the seat they all seem fine, the battery is brand new and given me no problems for 200 miles. Has anyone suffered this problem of have any ideas what to check next.
    Cheers mike

I'd say try it again and it should be fine, they dont like being on there side, and have a cut off, as the oil etc is in the wrong place etc.
Now it's been upright a while id guess it will be ok.

Test the battery with a Meter if you have one. Just because its new does not mean a drop hasn't damaged it.

As GSI says test the battery, if you have a lead acid type you could've lost the acid (electrolyte) if it's drained out the breather overnight :? !

Definitely should have stood it back up last night, and looked in the morning, they don't like lying down.

  6. +1 very strange decision to leave it on the floor!

  7. Could just be the way he worded it guys. Maybe he picked the bike up but didn't assess the damage till the morning as it was dark in the garage? I don't think anyone would leave a bike on it's side overnight................................would they? :?

If the new battery is the same as the OEM one it's a sealed 'Gel' type and can actually be mounted on its side so the bike falling over is unlikely to have affected it, at least in respect to the battery acid.

More likley a connector or relay somewhere has shaken lose. There are a load of relays/fuses under the left fairing /cockpit infill

Mine has the original battery and it's sealed lead acid hopefully it will be something simple the fact the dash still boots must count for something do the daytona have a tilt switch that need resetting?

  10. If it was you and you did leave it on the floor all night, would you admit it? I wouldn't lol

  11. isnt there some kind of tilt switch that shuts everything off if the bike goes down... :?:

Yep I would admit it, if thats what I did.

    Maybe a switch Nige.

I know that when I dropped my old Kwak er6f, it wouldn't start again straight away, probably a good 1 min before it went chug chug again.

yeah there is it's located behind the clock mounting bracket, i don't think you have to do any sort of reset on it perhaps you could disconnect it turn the ignition on then off then reconnect and try again.
