Guys was out tonight with my friend for a blast and had a bite to eat. On way home went along a road that we both know really well. Half way along came upon a que of traffic held up by an old person in a car. As per the 'law' we started to overtake when possible (only certain parts possible) as i overtook 1 car a van came round a corner far in front of us so i braked and pulled in. No issue with me at all and i wasn't worried (except i knew no more overtaking places and the old person had ruined the drive home). Then (and this is what i want to ask you guys) as the van driver came upon me he flashed quickly. I don't know what for and what it would achieve. This has happened before. I don't know if ppl coming towards bikes and if they are overtaking they panic and don't understand that the bike can accelerate etc better than an overtaking car and what could possible be dangerous in a car is totally safe on a bike. Don't slate me for this lol :?
It didn't really annoy me it's just what does it achieve. As my friend said it was more likely to dazzle the car drivers. When the manover was over the van was still well away from me so no danger at all
Had that a few times. I did have one turn around and come after me. Told me that was silly and dangerous. My question to him was did you crash, get hurt or die? He wasn't I'm pressed and went off
Yep i think most Bike Riders have had this at one point or another, Some drivers think that a bike cannot get out of the way and then panic. I would just ignore it as tbh they are (has been said all ready) venting their feelings, i just look at the driver and shrug. Were there any police cars /Vans around as he could have been letting you know (maybe)
would no one else raise a middle finger in the general direction of white van mong or is that just me?
i thought i had this happen to me once as i found out later it was for the knob behind me who was doing dodgy overtakes
at the bloke who has just warned you of a speed trap up ahead? Great Is it just me that always thinks the best of people until proved wrong?
Who’d be warning you of a speed trap as you were filtering :? I have a particular stretch that I regularly get flashed by oncoming vans and there’s no speed trap just a load of poorly positioned stationary traffic I’m attempting to filter past. The people doing the flashing are usually hogging the middle of the road too so no I don’t have any qualms about telling them to do one.
Old person ruined your ride home? Get used to it all part of riding on the uk busy roads and remember you will be old one day, if your lucky.
Get it all the time, flashing and beeping horns. Half the time I wonder whats going on, then realise it was at me haha. Usually if im quick enough they get the wanker return sign (which just shows how much time there really was..)
Isn't it blue lights usually flashing at you Red, while you frantically try and rub lacquer and colour coat from a car door off of your toe slider? :dunno:
Did an overtake and the car coming the the other way flashed. This caused the car at the front of the que to slow right down. Net result is i got past them for a clear road. And still in in loads of time before meeting Mr I can't judge speed and distance
I had an old women flick me a v and mouth fuck off in a similar situation in wales once. I lolled into my lid
I had a woman in a mini the other Sunday morn, gesticulate and shout at me that I was a wxxker whilst I was over taking her on a duel carriage way going round a r/a. So I backed up and let her undertake me and pulled up alongside her and asked her what she meant. She wound window down and said that I was taking too many risks and riding too fast???? I told her to stop being silly...and rode off, blxxdy church going do good ers.
