Probly more one for craig... But how hard would it be to get @675.cc email addresses ? Not a field i know too much about but i know there are a fair few of us on here that probly would go for one...
This can be done; just really how it's done is the question. 1. Forwarders i.e. someone emails member_name@675.cc, the 675.cc server then sends the message onwards to a designated email address e.g. member_name@gmail.com. With gmail (and possibly other systems) you can then set it up to be able to reply using the "675.cc" domain. 2. POP Email Old fashioned, but still a system of choice for many. Using a pop/smtp server to send and receive emails. The email would be exclusively handled through the 675.cc server to your computer etc... 3. Web mail A bit trickier as we would need to put a system in place. I would be keen on ensuring it's branded 675.cc so it would be more of an ongoing project rather than something we could implement quickly. Certainly possible. So in short, very easy to sort something out, just all depends on the demand and how we handle it. If there's enough interest I'll look a bit further into it.
On this note ill start the list..... Whos interested in having a (membername)@675.cc email address ?? 1. MickyHutton 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
1. MickyHutton 2. edski 3. steffydog 4. Blaster 5. 6. Why not have another one I think I am up to 4 that I use currently. POP would be fine for me.
You really can't have enough emails At least it'd be the nicest... so long as we don't allow them 'other' bike owners to have one *runs*
1. MickyHutton 2. edski 3. steffydog 4. Blaster 5. paulcdb 6. Cookie 7. StMarks 8. :? But, reading between the lines it sounds like a lot of work (& we know Craig has a very busy schedule ATM) so do not want to create still more pressure.

Forwarding or POP3/SMTP should be fairly simple to do. WebMail would be more tricky and take a bit of time.

I think the easiest option would be a forwarder. (i.e. your base email is member@gmail.com, you can send using member@675.cc and receive using member@675.cc. This puts a minimum responsibility on 675.cc for handling emails as we wouldn't store any emails on the server etc...) If you're using gmail you can set it to reply using the domain (that's what I do). I think you can do this with other email account e.g. hotmail. It also means you don't have to mail everyone in your list to change email, you just have an alternative. POP is good, but it may be worth avoiding for server usuage to be reserved for other factors etc... I'll sort out a order form, like with the free vinyls for the forwarders. An a better explanation of how to get it working. These will be offered for free. I'll keep you posted as soon as I got the form up and running.
Well done Craig. I can see the point of not storing on the server as dormant accounts will clog the system. Sent from an Android
