No end of problems at the moment! Last 2 visits to the petrol station, it's been near impossible to unlock my filler cap. Key was really difficult to get in and even harder to turn. Sprayed some WD40 into the key hole and now key goes on really easy, but still totally jammed shut. And now the rubber ring round the outside of the whole thing had lifted at the back allowing petrol to splash up! Anyone had this? Would WD40 do that to the rubber (didn't think I got any on there). If it's totally dead I don't want to fit one with a different key. Would it be mad to get one of the race caps without a lock? How easy/hard is it to change all the locks and ignition? Cheers
Not sure about the rest, but dry graphite lube is great for locks if I remember correctly. I've been considering a race cap, a lot of people use them, but I quite like the original look as it is, but get pissed off with the scratches on the silver part, where previous owner rested the pump to the side I think... And having to quickly take ignition key out open tank and put ignition on again to stop the datatool arming itself while the fob is deep in my pocket!
I got annoyed with key out, alarm pain so swapped for a race cap (oberon) and its awesome. Soooo much easier and quicker at the track or garage.
I leave my fob on the key ring with the ignition key, never had a problem with the alarm going off while filling up. Once all done and paid i just deactivate the alarm when I'm ready to hop on and go, I am also having a issue with the petrol tank key bare in mind the key isn't a original triumph one and I think when it's been cut it isn't exactly the same as a original one hence why it plays up a bit.
I had this with mine before I swapped to 1/4 turn one. Took it off the tank, took it all apart and lubed the metal parts with white lithium and the rubber soaked it in wd40 for few hours, re fitted and was fine for a few weeks and still is
