got my arse into gear to start taking the 675 apart for the err.... 'winter' lol i know i know, im just lazy and didnt want to be out in the cold as i spend all day in the cold at work so when i get home i'm abit like ahh sod it... so the strip down so down far: tank off steer damper off fuel pump out and ready for new seal and clean up (still hadn't replaced it after i had first put the CF tank on and nicked the seal resulting in lots of petrol everywhere, also resulting in having to reseal pump with old seal with silicone sealant due to remote location at time. proper bodge job but its been holding since July so pretty damn impressed!) exhaust off and apart for clean up and powder coating some nasty rusty bits air filter out for clean still to do jobs: middle section of exhaust out to put my wrap on clean chain clean air filter change oil sort my disco light out sort my 'when it can be bothered to work' indicators send stuff off for powder coating replace brake lines if i ever get them from HEL..... okay i dont remember needing to do that much stuff when i started eek!! and i want it on the road for the beginning of Feb is gonna be a push *cry* my fuel pump in all its black silicone glory... stuff everywhere, dunno what my dad is gonna say when he see's it lol!! who needs a fancy wheel stand when you can use a torn cardboard box lol!
That reminds me back in the early 90's when I was still living at home I bought a World War II Willys Jeep to restore. My Mum and Dad went away for 10 days on holiday and while they were gone I moved the Jeep into the garage and stripped it down - completely - boxes and bits everywhere. My Dad was pretty p*ssed off when he got home and he didn't get his garage back for 18 months Think he kind of liked it by the end through.
Been there etc - bought a CG125 to do up for my son when he was still 16, he's 23 now and it's still in bits in the garage.... Or my Bro-in-law that's had his Tiger Cub in bits since he was 20, he's 48. I'd be thinking about looking for bargains in the showrooms come spring if you want to take your own bike to the IOM Hazza . Good luck!
...Check the indicator relay, Hazza...mine were driving me crazy..in the end the relay just needed a zip-tie to hold it more firmly in place in the socket Save your money...the 675 already has braided lines...they're just covered in black plastic...they don't look as good as the HEL lines, but the performance is comparable.
Ah I just have a dodgy connecter on the indicators, the bullet connectors are shat on the 675 and when I go over a bump the front one works some times and not others. Hate the bloody things. And i ordered my HEL brake lines at the beginning of the month, I'm only getting them coz I wanted quick release brake line adaptors in them. Total pet hate of mine is brake calipiers hanging from brake lines when people work on them, plus I can clean them better and no risk of them banging into my wheels when taking them in and out
My bike has done two winters so the road salt had gotten to some parts of my exhaust over the years
Carbon Aramid Contructions. CAC(K), get it? Toilet? Cack?..................where did I put my coat??
No! - I invented the toilet...or rather "a toilet"...'bout 3 months ago - when you're out on the road, even empty Gatorade bottles have their uses!!
Sorry Darren, that's the "Eastern Block Truck Driver" toilet you re-invented! Also gone to the same lovely people is the "Taking a dump in a carrier bag" toilet :rolleyeover: ! There appears to be an unofficial contest with these fine "Knights of the Road" as to the most artistic placing of the aforementioned pop bottles and carrier bags around the UK road network, with extra points awarded for getting one suspended in a tree in clear view of all his admiring buddies ! You gotta love em!
