I am without a bike . It was a sad day yesterday as my bike Herman Z'e German went to a new home. I have done less then 3,000 miles in 2 years and with this year all but gone I decided rather than tax, insurance, service a bike just to sit around it would probably be sensible (that hurt) to let it go. In those 9 years I had a street triple R, an R6 track bike, a Daytona, a 996sps, street triple track bike, S1000RR, and finally Herman an S1000XR. So not a bad innings, had some great laughs and of course met loads of you fine folks too on track days and rides.

It's not the end of it all though. Come the spring hopefully my new job will be more settled and I can start looking again. I am going to be looking for a Capian Blue Daytona or first gen Daytona R, I shouldn't have sold my blue one and always liked the first R the most so either will do me.

  2. Sad news indeed Jimmy but time to save some more hey :)
To be honest, while I still get my speed fix with the track bikes I spend more time riding the little dual thingy bike I have more than anything else.
I've really become a love of the green lane / farm track riding as there's no shortage of these here in Sweden.
I live quite near the TET but to be honest, land access here is pretty good and no shortage of gravel / dirt tracks.

Sorry to hear that TJ, but distance makes the heart grow fonder they say.
So when you return to two wheels, your exhilaration should be even sweeter.?

I have the S1000XR as next on my list how do you rate them? Something the missus could go on a trip with me and be comfy and carey luggage.

Would you recommend one? The Daytona will never be sold though, would be a second bike.

It's was a great tool for the job but, it was just a tool for me. I was never really in love with it so of your looking for a bike that will do everything well and you are not really concerned with having that fizz factor then it's great. If you want something that you'll look back to while walking away then maybe not.

  6. That's a shame but on the flip side it will soon be winter and most of us won't be riding anyway.
Hopefully you can pick up a new bike in the spring, Caspian blue or first gen 675 R, brilliant choices:smileup:
Will you lose your no claims if you have no bike insurance policy, I think with mine you're only allowed a 6 month break, is it worth buying and insuring a really cheap runabout to keep the policy running, something with cheap insurance obviously.

  7. I’ll probably sell my Gen 1 D675R in spring if you are looking then

Yea i get what you mean, in bog standard form they wont turn many heads but a few tastey mods and they can loook the part. Being a good all rounder with quickshifter, blipper, comfort, heated grips, crusie control and 170 odd bhp seems pretty good.

I would be inclined to just keep the insurance going unless he wants money back

Cheers guys. I still have my mountain bike addiction to keep me in 2 wheels and will be looking again in the spring for something.

My no claims are safe for now and Bemoto have said that they will refund my cancellation fee if I go back with them next time. Seeing as they have had the best deal for me for the last few years that's highly likely.

The XR over the mountain at the TT with 2 people and full luggage still pulled over 120 so she's got plenty of go. It is a good bike, I think it was an struggle for me coming from an RR, it had big shoes to fill.

Some great bikes in that list. I remember a few track days with that R6 and Street Triple. I also remember the Akra cans on your Street sounded pretty epic.

Nice I nearly went for the strive myself it's just my local shop gave me a good deal on the megatower frame so thought why not.

Actually really enjoying the P7 at the moment it's making me think about going back to hard tail full time.

BPW is great been 3 times this year, hoping to get back again before the clocks go back and it's dark at 4.

I think a hardtail will be next bike. Some like a Nukeproof scout.

Hoping to get one last ride a BPW this year.
