Right I've noticed a few posts bout tattoos recently so I figured I'd see what people had!! Same sketch as post up your bike thread. Please no pics of offensive places!! I'll start......... Ben
Re: Fourm members tattoos Nice Ben. Like it. This is my fave one, although I do like my name across my back but could take a good photo by myself lol.
I've brought this back rather than start a new thread...So i've been thinking for years about having my 1st tattoo...so my question for those with them is can you help me? How did u decide what or where to have your tattoo? I don't want a face, name, fish, bike, naked lady etc...how do i decide?
It took me 10 years to decide You mentioned few things you don't want.... If you're not sure what you want, what designs are you considering?
You just kind of know what you want. But you have to make that decision for yourself. I've got two that I need covering up, seemed a fun design at the time and are what most people wouldn't go for but now I hate them. Take your time to decide. One thing I wouldn't do is walk into a shop and pick one out a book. Spend some time looking at pics on Google. If you find something you really like print it off and stick it to your fridge. Every time you see it you'll be reminded of what you could have on you for life. If you decide at somepoint maybe you don't like it its obviously not the right choice.
+ 1 ^^^ I was told when it comes to tattoos and you're unsure about it then you're not ready for one.
mate of mine's into all that branding nonsense anyone off here had a go? he had to scrub an open wound with wire brush for a few weeks!!
If you dont know what design you want maybe you should think of other things to start with , if you want black&grey or color , what size and a what areas you would consider getting tattooed will narrow down what types of design you need to sroll through . Have to agree you do need to be 100% sure about the design , iv got 2 tats now but i really dont like them now after a year or so
Thanks for the replies, I’ll try and answer them all! @iceman675, I’m not really considering anything at present, as I’m not sure what I do want. I basically have no imagination, and haven’t seen anything that I can say wow, I want that. Nor do I have any idea of where to look as I see lots of stuff I don’t like. @hampster86, no I won’t be just walking in on a whim, I need to be 100% sure. I think I want a half sleeve? If that’s shoulder to elbow on the right side, might go full at some point? I also like symmetry, so if I have the right done, will I feel funny with a bare left? @Hadies, I’m ready for one, but not sure what, so I’m just wondering how people decide really. @Red675 id have a go at that, I’ve seen some and they look different, and some pain mmm @Mrs H I guess when I see the design I’ll decide on colour or blacks, until then I’m open I guess. I just wanted to know if those with them say right, I’m gonna have xyz, because of xyz reason, or I like the look of Joe blogs, so i'll tweak it and bingo...because if that’s the case I doubt i'll ever see what I’m after as I don’t know what I’m looking for, hehe, mixed up bloke, sorry!!
Hey Steffy, absolute best advise i would give anyone is to find the tattooist first (or at least as a very close second priority)! If you're thinking of a sleeve, then you will be spending a fair amount of time with the person, and there are some arses out there as well as some stars! A good tattooist will also work on ideas with you, but at a minimum you will need to know if you want japanese, tribal, celtic, biotech, old school etc. If you are interested I'll hook you up with the guy that did most of mine (I've spent over 100 hours with him- a great artist and interesting guy) i have recommended a few people, and they have all had great experiences. If nothing else he will have a chat with you - and i've witnessed him politely telling people that they are not ready yet! Too start the though process maybe take a look at THIS (or similar) a good overview of some of the best artists and their styles-very current too. In fact you can borrow my copy if you want?
Thanks mate, I kinda banked on contacting you when i was ready, then using your guy! As I trust you, and I'd expect your guy to be good. I'd hate to have something on me permanently that wasn't perfect, or as near as.
I'll have a think on your post, I'm not ready at the mo' so no rush, but at some point later this year I'd like to make a start.
