Went to the Manchester bike show todat to initially meausure the tail tidy on the new tona (another story) anyways i know the manchester lads and with an engineering background and 7 yearsof 675s experiance i had a proper poke around it here goes my tupence. Its a white standard 675 with a blue subfame and its going to be there demo bike withh plenty of extras fitted levers and quick shifter but no can_-theres a plate on the can which looks like an after thougfht acting as an heat shield and the cans smaller than it looks on pics, the tail unit is gorgeouus very rsvr but the subfame has the battery box filling the voids with the tackiest plastic inve ever tapped in my life. The pieces below the tank are the same shite plastic im sure they will be a carbon extra and move about when you push them fairing infills the same im so dissaponted at this point i sit on the bike which looks smaller and squat and im at home with the bikes ive loved for 7 years. I walked to the front of the bike and that air intake scares me to dath any crud in ther IE a pice of newspaper and it would be a twat to get out it has a filter about 6" inside there and it could be a yam or kwak in your mirrors. In 2005 i went to the NEC in November having ordered my 675 in September and my jaw hit the floor i rang Mike in Stockport and said sack the yellow i want graphite and rode it home in snow in march 2006. Would i be dissapoited with the new bike erm no it looks properly finished for its task will i px mine NO its more sinewy (is that a word) and alive at a standstill but im guessing if youve ordered one you wont be dissapointed by the way ive a test ride booked for this week on said same bike if the snow keeps awayso over the peaks on mine then the new one and then back again on mine and i wont take prisoners so ill repost Ta for my rant .
2 pints of Boddies and a packet of full stops please. Good write up though Manu, despite being slightly hammered.
I poked it for about half an hour and said to my lad if my 2012 bike and the new one were parked together debadged and i had never seen either before i would be taking mine home. I was trying my best to be subjective and unbiased really looking forward to the back to back test though.
I think the new Daytona 675 looks great. I think the new Daytona 675 doesnt look as nice as the old 675. I think all the hype needs to generate new bike sales. I think the new Daytona 675 would be a nice bike to own I think it isnt worth the upgrade if it costs £1000's to change from the old 675 to the new one. Either way, old bike or new bike your a winner. Calm down and just ride it
