Help please, have read the back topics on the exup valve thingy but can not sort mine. the warning light comes on every 40 or so miles. It shows up as the exup valve sticking, i have had it stripped down greased and freed up (the first time it was siezed open). I have sprayed and cleaned it twice more but the light has come back on again today. The bike is 4 years old so no warranty, has anyone got any joy from triumph? What do i do next? is there a non expensive solution?
Si W does a very good service where you can have this valve removed, if this not the route you want to take Im sure he and many others here can advise.. I cant as I have not had this issue yet! good luck
Remove the servo motor and cables and the valve will be held permanently held open by the return spring type thingy IIRC.
I used the search option and found quite a few threads on this but this is what I was talking about -
im having the same issue with my 09 but atleast its under warranty! Was abit annoying really after leaving the bike at the dealers for a week, i go to collect the bike start it up and the engine light comes back straight away, they wheel it back in the workshop to they me its the same exup fault, they are going to try a new exup motor on mine next
Valve is a pain but gives a bit more low-mid range oomph. As Tony and O.S said you can live without it, but if you chuck the servo motor off it'll cause the wng lt to come on as well. Best thing is to try and free it properly, set the cable free-play and use tuneboy or the freeware tuneecu(?) to reset the ecu open/closed positions for the servo motor, should be ok for a while after that.
