    Help!

    Street Triple 2010.

    Bike starts and will rev but won't idle and cuts out when the throttle is shut.

    Recently fitted a new stator and CPS from Electrex World.

    Interestingly, if the 3 phase stator connector is unplugged, the bike will idle just fine.

    All readings for stator and CPS seem fine, though I'm going to check them again now.

    1. CPS resistance is 207 ohm (2000k)
    2. 3 Phase pins are 0.6 ohm (200k)
    3. Stator output is healthy 29V at idle and rises with revs
    4. Battery is being chargd at 14v (before engine cuts out)

    I've been through some of the posts here regarding Stators and CPS failures but no-one seems to have the same symptons, i.e. the bike starts OK but wont Idle.

    Other than the stator being replaced nothing elese has changed.

    Battery and reg/rec are good too.

    o_O:confused::rolleyes::(

    Further research flags up the following as possibilities;
    1. Faulty CPS
    2. Loose vacuum tubes
    3. Incorrect Idle Stepper Motor adjustment
    4. Damaged Alternator

    If it runs from the battery with the stator and rr disconnected, I'd say you have found your problem. It's and arse but I'd maybe try and install a genuine triumph one and see what happens. Mine idled at 8k rpm when the charging circuit went rogue.

    Cheers, I'll see if I can find an OEM one...

  5. I had that same problem a few months ago... turned out the battery was dead... yes it showed 13 or 14 volts with the meter, but it wasnt able to hold enough amps to start the bike. have you tried a different battery?

    Turns out it was a faulty stator. Put a new one in and all is well.
    The one before must have been faulty or I somehow damaged it putting it in.

    Fyi we've previously had posts where the cabling from a re-installed stator has been poorly routed, allowing the flywheel to abrade it & short out the wires.
    Routing them carefully & precisely can be fiddly awkward & time consuming, but more important than perhaps many realise.?

    ^ I hate fittting stators. As above, routing the cable safely can be a nightmare!

    It's far easier replacing a stator when you're fitting one you have only recently removed, because the wires are the correct length & they have already been moulded into shape by heat & time.
    Fitting replacement units will mean you do not have those advantages.

    Pretty sure I replaced my OEM one with a new unit. Dunno what everyone else is doing if they're finding it tricky.

    Plus I cut the wires to fit it directly to the reg/rec due to melted plugs. Not had an issue since, must of been lucky when I fitted it.
